Texas Man Charged With Punching Lawyer in Face After Receiving 50-Year Sentence for Murder

Jaquarius Lewis, 27, was just sentenced to 50 years for murder  then immediately punched his own lawyer in the face in the Texas courtroom. He now faces an additional assault charge.

We stand in remembrance of Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr. and Andrew Nunez, who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2025, alongside the many brave officers who gave everything to protect their communities. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Praying for the Philadelphia Police officer who was shot in the line of duty this evening.🙏🏻

An investigation is underway after a police officer was shot in North Philadelphia.

A shooting occurred at around 7:40 p.m. on the 1700 block of Cumberland Street. Officials say a police officer was shot in the leg. 

The officer was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where officials say he is in stable condition.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel and Mayor Cherelle Parker provided an update on the incident Monday evening.
"Early during this week, we had some gunshots and gun activity up in that area as a normal process we send our special team in their highway patrol to settle things down," said Bethel. "So they're in that area specifically to address some of the gun activity we had in that area."

According to Bethel, two highway patrol officers made a car stop and two people exited the vehicle. A 53-year-old officer went to frisk one of the individuals, who officials say was armed with a gun that discharged.

The officer was shot in the leg and rushed to the hospital where he is "doing extremely well," according to Commissioner Bethel. The injured officer is married with three children and has been with the Philadelphia Police Department for 20 years.

Sergeant George dedicated 19 years to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, serving our community with integrity, commitment, and compassion.

BREAKING: Multiple high-ranking D.C. police officials face termination or other potential disciplinary action, four officials said Monday, creating a scramble as the department faces intense scrutiny from federal officials, according to a report by The Washington Post.

The report revealed these firings are related to MPD's internal investigation into these allegations, and the officials will have the chance to defend themselves during the disciplinary process.
