BREAKING: Three people have died on a cruise ship in the Atlantic, the WHO said Sunday, one a confirmed case of hantavirus -- an illness usually transmitted to humans from rodents.

The outbreak occurred on the MV Hondius, travelling from Ushuaia in Argentina to Cape Verde.

"To date, one case of hantavirus infection has been laboratory confirmed, and there are five additional suspected cases," the WHO told AFP.

"Of the six affected individuals, three have died and one is currently in intensive care in South Africa."

Through May 3, fire stations, landmarks, and communities across the country were lit up in red for Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters—a symbol of support and remembrance.

On average, flags at the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation are lowered to half-staff once every three days to honor a firefighter lost in the line of duty. Every red light this week was proof that we never forget.❤️

Countries from all over the World, almost all of which are not involved in the Middle Eastern dispute going on so visibly, and violently, for all to see, have asked the United States if we could help free up their Ships, which are locked up in the Strait of Hormuz, on something which they have absolutely nothing to do with — They are merely neutral and innocent bystanders! For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these Countries that we will guide their Ships safely out of these restricted Waterways, so that they can freely and ably get on with their business. Again, these are Ships from areas of the World that are not in any way involved with that which is currently taking place in the Middle East. I have told my Representatives to inform them that we will use best efforts to get their Ships and Crews safely out of the Strait. In all cases, they said they will not be returning until the area becomes safe for navigation, and everything else. This process, Project Freedom, will begin Monday morning, Middle East time. I am fully aware that my Representatives are having very positive discussions with the Country of Iran, and that these discussions could lead to something very positive for all. The Ship movement is merely meant to free up people, companies, and Countries that have done absolutely nothing wrong — They are victims of circumstance. This is a Humanitarian gesture on behalf of the United States, Middle Eastern Countries but, in particular, the Country of Iran. Many of these Ships are running low on food, and everything else necessary for largescale crews to stay on board in a healthy and sanitary manner. I think it would go a long way in showing Goodwill on behalf of all of those who have been fighting so strenuously over the last number of months. If, in any way, this Humanitarian process is interfered with, that interference will, unfortunately, have to be dealt with forcefully. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

NEW: Santa Monica police responded Sunday morning to a reported store theft on Santa Monica Boulevard that escalated into a physical struggle.

One officer was injured during the arrest and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The suspect was also taken into custody.

The community of Rosebud and the Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department, Texas was hit with tragedy this weekend (May 2–3, 2026) as their Fire Chief, Caleb Miller, was killed in a tragic UTV (utility task vehicle) accident in Burnet County.

A message from the Rosebud Fire Department

“As we try to find answers to reasons we can’t understand. All we know is we lost more than a fire chief yesterday, we lost a brother, a mentor, and the kind of leader you only get once in a lifetime.

Caleb Miller was genuine, compassionate, and selfless beyond measure. He led with heart, served with pride, and cared for his people like family.

Caleb would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He showed us what true service looks like, not just in the firehouse, but in life.

He loved his family fiercely, and he loved this department just as deeply.

His boots may be empty, but his impact will never fade. Rest in peace, Chief. We’ll honor you in every call we run.

Please keep his family, friends, our brothers and sisters in our first responder family that knew him in your prayers as we navigate this world without him.

Praying for the Carroll County Sheriff’s deputy who was seriously injured in the line of duty this morning.🙏🏻

Missouri: An investigation is underway after a two-vehicle crash Sunday left the driver of a pickup dead and a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputy seriously injured.

The crash happened on MO-139 Highway, north of County Road 220, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP said the pickup driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and the deputy was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

NEW: A Colorado State Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries when he was knocked down by a vehicle during a traffic stop on Saturday.

According to the CSP, they received a report that a man was driving northbound on I-25 near Walsenburg while drinking a beer around 1 p.m. When a trooper found the grey Ford Transit Connect van south of Pueblo, they attempted to pull it over.

CSP said the driver stopped on the off-ramp, but when the trooper approached to speak with him, the driver was uncooperative. The trooper noticed a shotgun in the van, and shortly after, the suspect allegedly drove off, knocking the trooper to the ground.
