Woodstock Police Department, Georgia officers attempted a traffic stop and the suspect lead them on a pursuit.
The suspect fired shots at officers and an officer returned fire, striking and killing the man. One officer was injured during the incident and is expected to be okay.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is taking over due to the officer-involved-shooting.

"The OCSO was contacted by federal authorities in reference to a male from North Carolina being in our jurisdiction while reportedly heading to do a mass shooting at a large festival in Louisiana. Our Bravo East Deputies located the male at a Destin hotel and he was taken into custody tonight without incident as a fugitive from justice. He will be extradited to Louisiana for his charges from state police there. Excellent work by all."

A Las Vegas police officer and a paramedic were injured Wednesday night when they were struck by a suspected impaired driver in a hit-and-run crash in the northwest valley, authorities said.
According to a text message from Metro Lt. Robert Johnson, the driver struck the officer and paramedic in a parking lot near North Decatur Boulevard and West Lake Mead Boulevard just before 8 p.m. Wednesday. Both were taken to a local hospital.
The injuries are not life-threatening, Johnson said. An ambulance and a Metro patrol vehicle were damaged in the crash.

Sheriff Rice wants to announce that deputies Stephen Lee and Payden From will both be back to work with full duty releases next week. These deputies both suffered gunshot wounds from a barricaded suspect callout in early February. We are proud of these two for their dedication and commitment to their jobs and community.
