California Governor Gavin Newsom is coming under increasing pressure to declare a state of emergency over the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. The city's County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and City Councilman Joe Buscaino came up with a proposal to implement the state of emergency due to a growing number of tent encampments in major cities. Supporters claim that declaring an emergency would free up state and federal funding typically reserved for natural disasters, such as earthquakes or wildfires. It would also eliminate or streamline bureaucratic red tape that can often delay shelter and housing developments.

White Dallas police officer Amber Guyger has been found guilty of murder after she fatally shot her unarmed black neighbor after claiming she mistook his apartment for her own. A jury reached the unanimous verdict in the high-profile trial for the 2018 killing of 26-year-old Botham Jean after six days of witness testimony but just a handful of hours of deliberation. In Texas, the sentence for murder is from five to 99 years in prison. The jury is expected to return on Tuesday afternoon for the punishment phase of the trial. Jean's family are expected to address the court at that time. Loud cheers erupted in the courtroom from Jean's family as the verdict was announced and someone yelled 'Thank you, Jesus!' In the hallway outside the courtroom, a crowd celebrated and shouted 'black lives matter'. When the prosecutors walked into the hall, they broke into cheers. Road officers were left baffled after they spotted a car with a front tyre covered in strange bubbles, while the driver was on the school run. Derbyshire police, UK, stopped the motorist on Monday as they dropped their children off at the school gates and took the car to a nearby garage. In pictures shared by the force thirteen bubbles of various sizes can be seen all over the driver's side tyre. When sharing the shocking images, officers also warned of the possible danger and reminded others to check their cars and make sure they were roadworthy. 😂 #facepalm

The Royal Air Maroc flight AT526 had taken off from Conakry, the capital of Guinea, and was bound for Morocco on September 30, with connecting passengers then travelling onto France. His limp, lifeless body was discovered early on Monday morning by ground staff at Casablanca's Mohammed V airport. The man's desperate attempt at illegal immigration proved immediately fatal as authorities believe he most likely did not survive the take off from Conakry. Surveillance footage shows an unidentified man sucker punching a 71-year-old woman in an 'unprovoked' attack. The incident happened on September 19 in Brooklyn, New York, around 5.30pm. The man appears to punch the woman in a random attack, leaving the woman to suffer a broken jaw, multiple stitches and severe contusions to the side of her face. Authorities shared the footage on social media and are asking people with information to please contact the 71st Precinct. #NYPD #WANTED
