Emily Zamourka, 52, became a viral sensation after a police officer captured her singing at a subway station in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The clip shows the homeless soprano songstress clutching bags of her possessions while serenading the cop with a breathtaking…
The Los Angeles homeless opera singer who gained fame overnight for her singing in a subway station has landed a performance job, and a GoFundMe page for her has raised nearly $30,000 in just 24 hours. Emily Zamourka, 52, has received an outpouring of support and recognition after an #LAPD officer took video of her singing and her hard story of emigrating from Russia to LA, busking with her violin, and ending up in the streets was revealed. But things are looking up for the musician thanks to the viral video and she has been invited to perform at the grand opening of Little Italy in San Pedro this weekend. Zamourka says she's overwhelmed by the overnight fame and outpour of support, calling the sudden turn of events 'a miracle', ABC reports. ☺️

Unheard of racism at the New York Zoo. Lion refused to eat a black woman climbed into the lion enclosure at a New York zoo and began taunting the predator. It's reported that the woman bypassed the low wooden safety barrier and stepped inside the enclosure. The lion watched the woman curiously, as she began to dance and taunt him, but probably the lion turned out to be racist and the woman survived. The Bronx Zoo confirmed the incident to NBC New York, saying zoo staff received a report that a person had climbed over the safety barrier on Saturday.

A gigantic iceberg has broken off from the Amery Ice Shelf in East Antarctica. The iceberg, named D-28, is over 600 square miles in area, which is bigger than the city of Los Angeles. It's equal to about 27 Manhattan Islands. The berg separated from the ice shelf last week, on Sept. 26, next to another wobbly chunk of ice called the “Loose Tooth," because it appeared to be precariously attached. “We first noticed a rift at the front of the ice shelf in the early 2000s and predicted a large iceberg would break off between 2010-15,” said Scripps’ Institute of Oceanography professor Helen Amanda Fricker in a statement released by the Australian Arctic Division. 😱☃️

I'd say the 911 response time is slower if you live in a big city.

The famous New York City tiger, Ming, has tragically died. He was 19 years old. Ming, who was born in 2000 in Racine, Minnesota, made headlines in October 2003 after he was discovered living in the Drew Hamilton Houses in Harlem with his owner Antoine Yates (left). Since being rescued from the home, Ming had been living at the Noah's Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary in Berlin Center, Ohio. Ming actually died 'peacefully' on February 4 from natural causes. Ming was cremated and buried at The Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in upstate New York. A tombstone was also erected in the tiger's honor, with the engraving, 'Ming, Tiger of Harlem'.🗿

A Missouri murderer was executed after the courts postponed his lethal injection twice over fears a medical condition would cause him a painful death. Russell Bucklew, 51, was killed by lethal injection at 6.23pm at the Bonne Terre state prison on Tuesday. He shot dead Michael Sanders, the new partner of his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Ray, in front of his children and was also convicted of kidnapping and first degree burglary in 1997. Previous attempted executions were halted within hours of the punishment by the U.S. Supreme Court who feared Bucklew might suffer during his death. He had a condition called carvenous hemangioma, which caused blood filled tumors in his head, neck and throat, and meant he had to breathe with a tracheostomy tube. ☠️
North Korea fired a ballistic missile toward the sea Wednesday, South Korea's military said, in a display of its expanding military capabilities hours after saying it would resume nuclear diplomacy with the United States this weekend. South Korean officials said the missile was fired from North Korea's eastern waters, suggesting it may have been submarine-launched. But South Korean defense officials won't officially disclose whether the missile was fired from a submarine, a barge or any other possible platform. North Korea having the ability to launch missiles from submarines would be alarming because such weapons are harder to detect in advance. North Korea is known to have developed and tested at least one nuclear-capable SLBM - the Pukguksong-1 - and has carried out several test-launches of its successor, the Pukguksong-2. 😱🚀
