NEW: A driver who showed signs of intoxication crashed into a Michigan State Police car on I-94 in Romulus, injuring a trooper who was inside.

According to MSP, a trooper was investigating a crash on westbound I-94 near Merriman in Romulus around 1:10 a.m. The trooper was sitting inside her vehicle with her emergency lights and spotlight activated when a driver in a Lincoln MKZ lost control and hit two vehicles, including the police car.

Police said the trooper needed to be removed from her vehicle. She was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for her recovery🙏🏻

John joined the Clark County Fire Department in January 2023, bringing with him the honor and dedication of his service as a United States Navy veteran. During his time with the department, he was known for his compassion toward those he served and his unwavering commitment to his crew.

John answered the call to serve his community with courage and humility. Whether on an emergency scene or back at the station, he carried himself with quiet strength and a selfless willingness to help others.

We were pleased to host a special visitor during last week’s Peer Support training at CMPD: Riggins, Therapy Dog with Matthews Fire & EMS.

Riggins joined our sessions to observe the work of our Peer Support Team and had the opportunity to meet CMPD Therapy Dog Lottie during his visit. It was a great moment to bring our agencies together and highlight the growing role of support animals in responder wellness.
