Michigan: A Flint police officer is in stable condition after being shot multiple times by a suspect on Tuesday night.

The City of Flint released these details on the shooting:

The officer was injured while attempting to intervene and prevent the suspect from feloniously assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a firearm. The officer was transported by fellow officers to a local hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The primary suspect was taken into custody following a vehicle pursuit. A second suspect remains outstanding at this time.

The Flint Police Department is set to provide an update at 3 p.m.

Despite being recognized as a hero for taking on the Santa Fe High School shooter, former district police officer John Barnes is still waiting for disability benefits for the injuries he suffered.

John Barnes nearly died when he took on a school shooter at Santa Fe High School.

After 11 surgeries, the former Santa Fe ISD police officer only has partial use of his arm.

Yet despite being recognized as a hero for taking on the shooter in 2018, which gave students and teachers more time to escape, he’s still waiting for disability benefits for the injuries he suffered that day.

NEW: Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies shot and killed a person after a call for an attempted suicide turned into an hourslong standoff in East Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.

The incident unfolded in the area of Triggs Street and Downey Road. When deputies responded around 2 a.m., a suspect started firing at them, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
They had to use an armored rescue vehicle to get to safety.
Deputies eventually returned fire and killed the suspect, who has not been identified. No deputies were hurt.
