WATCH: VP JD Vance hosts first task force meeting to eliminate fraud
VP: "A lot of the anti-fraud protections that existed in our government for a very long time were actually turned off by the Biden administration... we're going to turn back on those anti-fraud protections so that all of these Cabinet officials are looking at what's going on and focusing on it."
VP uses the autism fraud scheme in Minneapolis as an example of the rampant fraud happening all over the country:
"You have families who need these services, who are unable to get them because people are getting rich... instead of making sure that autistic children and their families get access to these resources."
AFergusonFTC on the task force to eliminate fraud:
"Our work on this task force will be to develop a comprehensive national strategy to combat the corruption of our federal benefits programs and to assist the TheJusticeDept in prosecuting those who have corrupted them."
Stephen Miller: Imagine in the Twin Cities, a native Minnesotan who works as a lineman or a construction worker, who's worried about his ability to support his family. And then imagine he has a neighbor whoβs a Somali refugee who arrived two years ago, and has a Mercedes, and no financial stress, and no worries at all, and never seems to ever go to work β because he just went to an office in the state, lied on a piece of paper, and got unlimited free money forever. That is the system that is being run. That is the corruption that this task force, under the leadership of VP, is going to demolish.

On March 24, Gwinnett County Police officers responded to a report of a missing 8-year-old child with autism spectrum disorder who is nonverbal. This is the type of call that no family ever wants to make and one that officers never want to receive. Officers learned the child had run out of the home and was missing. Like many children with autism, the child is drawn to water. With a body of water nearby, officers and the family knew it was critical to cover as much ground as possible in a short amount of time.
Officers quickly dispersed throughout the area, and multiple members of the community stepped up to help with the search. Master Police Officer J. Serrano #2031 positioned his patrol vehicle on the bridge on Steve Reynolds Boulevard overlooking the water while community members searched the nearby wooded area. A short time later, the child was heard crying out and was located clinging to a branch in the water. MPO Serrano and a civilian immediately entered the water and rescued the child.
The child was reunited with their family, evaluated on scene by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, and transported to a local hospital due to concerns about hypothermia. Thankfully, the child did not suffer any serious injuries. A quick response, teamwork, and a community that was willing to jump in and help made all the difference in this situation.
For questions about resources available to those with family members with autism spectrum disorder β including how to add the person to Loganβs List, which gives important information to first respondersβ please reach out to Gwinnett County Police Behavioral Health Unit at PDBehavioralHealthUnit@gwinnettcounty.comor 770.513.5436.
