Today, I joined the San Bernardino County Police Chiefs and law enforcement leaders from across the Inland Empire in Sacramento to meet with members of our legislative delegation and advocate with a united voice for public safety.
Together, we discussed the implementation and long-term impact of Proposition 36, the need for sustainable funding opportunities for local law enforcement, and policy solutions to increase accountability for repeat offenders who continue to impact our communities.
When law enforcement speaks with one voice, it reinforces the importance of ensuring our agencies have the tools, resources, and support necessary to protect the people we serve.
Thank you to Sen Susan Rubio, Sen Strickland, Sen Umberg, Asm Rodriguez, Asm Jeff Gonzalez, and Asm Harabedian, for taking the time to meet and engage in thoughtful, productive conversations.

I am grateful for President Trumpβs trust in me to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Itβs an honor to serve.
As DHS Secretary, Iβm committed to safeguarding the American people and protecting the homeland. Iβll fight for your family just as Iβll fight for mine.
I look forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with the 260,000 outstanding DHS employees and their families to keep our nation safe.
My first priority is to end the partisan fighting and reopen the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a matter of national security.
Letβs get to work. πΊπΈ

Incredible March heat in the Southwest. Phoenix has only hit 100F one time during the month of March. Through the 23rd, PHX has had 6 days of 100F + heat and could see another 3 more days through the rest of the week. Remarkable!
