I want to thank President Trump for entrusting me to lead the department leading the fight to Make America Safe Again. In one year, the patriots at DHS delivered the MOST secure border in American history, 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S., located 145,000 unaccompanied children, delivered disaster relief at a 100% faster rate, ushered in the golden age of travel, saved the American taxpayer $13 billion, and revitalized the U.S. Coast Guard.

As Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, I will build on the years of national security expertise I forged during my time as Secretary of Homeland Security, Governor of South Dakota, and Congresswoman on the House Armed Services Committee.

Today, I joined the San Bernardino County Police Chiefs and law enforcement leaders from across the Inland Empire in Sacramento to meet with members of our legislative delegation and advocate with a united voice for public safety.

Together, we discussed the implementation and long-term impact of Proposition 36, the need for sustainable funding opportunities for local law enforcement, and policy solutions to increase accountability for repeat offenders who continue to impact our communities.

When law enforcement speaks with one voice, it reinforces the importance of ensuring our agencies have the tools, resources, and support necessary to protect the people we serve.

CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER STOPPED FROM REENTERING U.S. STREETS!

A Mexican national previously convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor was turned over to USBP after finishing his prison sentence. Instead of being released back into the community, an immigration detainer was honored, and he is now pending prosecution for felony illegal reentry—then deportation.
