CONFIRMED BY NASA: Eyewitnesses in Texas observed a bright fireball Saturday, March 21, at 4:40 p.m. CDT.

Current data indicates that the meteor became visible at 49 miles above Stagecoach, TX northwest of Houston.

It moved southeast at 35,000 mph, breaking apart 29 miles above Bammel, just west of Cypress Station.

The fragmentation of the meteor - which weighed about a ton with a diameter of 3 feet - created a pressure wave that caused booms heard by some in the area. Doppler weather radar also showed meteorites produced between Willowbrook and Northgate Crossing.

NEW: An eastern Colorado sheriff’s office is asking for prayers and positive vibes after one of its deputies was badly injured while trying to help the victims of a car crash.🙏🏻

The Otero County deputy was among numerous first responders to the rollover, which happened Friday night near the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road 805, five miles north of Rocky Ford. The crash site is near the Arkansas River, and the 911 caller had indicated the vehicle may have ended up in the water.

Four occupants were found inside the car. One was airlifted to Memorial Central in Colorado Springs, two were transported by ambulance to Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, and one was taken to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta.

While trying to reach the car, the Otero County deputy was injured.
“Last night one of our own deputies was severely injured while trying to help victims of a crash and is in need of your prayers and positive energy,” the Otero County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. “His bravery and that from other emergency responders is incredible.”

Neither the sheriff’s office nor the fire department has said how the deputy was injured. The conditions of the deputy and the four victims in the crash have not been updated as of Sunday morning.

Hawai'i: The Coast Guard has been responding to flash floods on the north shore of Oahu for the past two days.

All told, Coast Guard and Navy aircrews saved 7 people and 1 dog stranded in flooded areas in Waialua and near Yokohama Bay.

Our crews train for dynamic situations like these to respond without hesitation when lives are at risk.

New Mexico: A woman is dead and five other people are injured following a shooting early Sunday morning in Clovis.

According to the Clovis Police Department, it happened around 12:30 a.m. near Grand Avenue and Calhoun Street.

Police did not specify the conditions of the five people injured.
