Today I presented Certificates of Excellence and Appreciation to Chief Deputy Adrian Rodriguez to deliver to three members of the San Patricio County Sheriffโs Office who were injured in the line of duty while protecting others inside our county jail.
While awaiting trial on a violent charge, an inmate carried out a brutal attack on a senior corrections officer using a shank. Two additional corrections officers were injured while stepping in to subdue him. A San Patricio County jury ultimately delivered justice with a lengthy prison sentence and additional time for the assaults on the other officers. Their courage and professionalism in the face of danger reflect the dedication of the men and women who serve and protect our communities every day.

On February 27, 2026, just before 1 a.m., deputies with team HCSO responded to a prowler call in Tampa.
Our Aviation Section saw Anthony Holmes, 56, entering multiple vehicles on the 4400 block of Ranchwood Lane. Deputies located him and gave several commands, including warnings that a K-9 would be deployed, but he fled on foot.
Our K-9 apprehended Holmes, and deputies arrested him on multiple charges, including Armed Burglary of Conveyance (x3), Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Credit or Debit Card (x4), and Grand Theft Firearm.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) responded to a crash on Old Fort Bayou Road involving a Jackson County Sheriffโs Department patrol vehicle Friday about 3:37 p.m.
MHP officials said deputies with the Jackson County Sheriffโs Department were responding to a call with lights and sirens activated when one of the patrol units collided with an SUV that was entering Old Fort Bayou Road from Rose Farm Road.
Those officials said the deputy was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recovery๐๐ป
MHP said the SUV driver was not injured in the crash.
