WATCH LIVE: President Donald J. Trump holds roundtable on saving college sports
POTUS: "We're gathered today to discuss an important threat to the integrity and culture of college sports: the inability to set rules on eligibility, transfers, Name, Image, and Likeness... this has grown into a major challenge."
"Federal legislation must allow college athletic programs to set simple common sense rules without endless litigation, and establish a fair Name, Image, and Likeness standard that eliminates the patchwork of conflicting state laws... If Congress does not take action fast, it could destroy college sports, and destroy the colleges that play these sports."
Yankees President Randy Levine, at POTUS' roundtable on saving college sports, says he's heard complaints for years about the current system:
"This group, as we move on, you can be assured will be talking to the student athletes and all of their representatives to make sure their voices are clearly heard. Time is of the essence."
Nick Saban: "We need to come up with a system... to allow student athletes in all sports, including women's and olympic sports, to enhance their quality of life, while going to college โ but still provide opportunity to advance themselves beyond their athletic career."
NCAA Pres. Charlie Baker: "Iโm deeply grateful for your commitment to this issue, Iโm thrilled by the folks you've manage to put around this table...[college sports] is a truly unique American jewel, and we should do all we possibly can to ensure its success..."
Gov. Ron DeSantis: "Iโm thankful that this is going to get done under President Trumpโs leadership. This is a bipartisan issue... There is no partisanship about this. We all want our universities and the athletics to succeed."
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey: "We cannot go on longer in this circumstance. This is not about revenue, this is about structures and national standards for eligibility, for transfers... for transparency and accountability around Name, Image and Likeness activity will fracture more if we fail to act. Thatโs why the appreciation, Mr. President, for the gathering, is most sincere."
USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland: "We stand here today, Team USA, in solidarity and partnership with the collegiate sports community to encourage Congress to pass legislation that stabilizes the foundation of sport on campus and ensures a healthy and robust ecosystem for student athletes across a wide array of olympic sports..."
NotreDame Athletics Director Pete Bevacqua: "I think everybody around this table knows that we need help to straighten this out... [college football] has become a runaway financial train, and if it continues to be that way, even the healthiest of universities are going to have to make incredibly difficult decisionsโdecisions that are going to impact womenโs sports and olympic sports. Thereโs simply no way around that. So we need regulations... we need financial transparency and we need repercussions."
POTUS on Iran: "We're doing very well. Somebody said, 'How would you score it from 0-10?' I said I'd give it a 12-15... Their navy is gone, their communications are gone, their leaders are gone... their air force is wiped out entirely."

Did you grow up watching CHiPs?
For many people, it was their first introduction to motorcycle officers. While the show was entertainment, it inspired plenty of riders who eventually chose a career in law enforcement.
Our Motor Unit is a valuable part of the Orange County Sheriffโs Office.
With Bike Week underway, we decided to recreate the classic CHiPs intro with a couple of OCSO motor deputies.

NEW: I just received emails in a FOIA request showing the Fairfax County Police Department WARNED Fairfax County Commonwealthโs Attorney Steve Descanoโs office in November 2025 about Abdul Jalloh, who is now charged with murdering Stephanie Minter at a busโฆ

UPDATE: When I asked Fairfax County Commonwealthโs Attorney Steve Descano why his office dropped so many charges against illegal immigrant Abdul Jalloh before he was charged with murdering Stephanie Minter at a bus stop, Descanoโs office partly blamed the victims in his past cases for not testifying and going to hearings.
But, I found Descanoโs office didnโt subpoena the victims in three previous cases and thereโs nothing that shows Descanoโs office even attempted to reach out to the victims in the public case files. Descanoโs office dropped charges in all three cases, allowing Jalloh to walk free. Two cases were for malicious wounding. The other for assault.
