CHP provides more details on officer who died in on-duty crash.
Officer Miguel Cano, 34, of Moreno Valley, crashed his department vehicle into a tree in Culver City after telling his partner he wasn't feeling that well.
The death of a CHP officer following a Culver City crash was caused by the effects of fentanyl, the medical examiner's office said, though it's unclear how or when it got in his system.
The crash happened last year while Officer Miguel Cano and his partner were transporting a DUI suspect who allegedly had "a large quantity" of cocaine.

SCOOP: Two heroic off-duty ICE officers patrolling Minnesota saved the life of a four-year-old boy who drowned after falling into a hotel pool.
The young boyβs panicked mother approached the officers last Friday as they were eating at a restaurant in the Minneapolis suburb of Plymouth hoping they could help save her unresponsive son. The officers jumped to the rescue.
The child had been under water for over five minutes after jumping into the pool to find a toy.
The agents performed CPR on the child for several minutes before paramedics arrived and he eventually regained consciousness.
Daily Wire obtained a letter the Plymouth Police Department sent to ICE in recognition of their heroic actions, saying the federal officers responded βwithout hesitation β¦ immediately began CPR and activated emergency medical services.β
βIn a situation like this, the first few minutes of emergency aid and quality CPR are critical. Without the quick response and professional actions [of the officers] the outcome of this event would have likely been tragic.β

The high-pressure system over Southern California is really going to crank up the heat. Conditions will peak on Friday and Saturday before a low-pressure system off the coast moves in.
Northern California forecast: Dense fog advisory on Thursday morning. The fog is back on Thursday with a Dense Fog Advisory in effect in the Valley until 10 a.m. Once the fog lifts mid-morning, expect partly sunny skies with highs climbing to the low 70s. Our normal is 64, and the daily record high is 76. It will still be a little muggy as clouds and moisture continue to flow from southwest.
