Los Angeles County has no room for predators. Thatβs why the Los Angeles County District Attorneyβs Office (LADA) joined a statewide initiative that removed nearly 200 alleged criminals off the street.
This week, District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman joined Sheriff Robert Luna and partners from federal, state, and local law enforcement to announce the results of Operation Reclaim and Rebuild, an annual statewide initiative by more than 80 agencies to end human trafficking. In one week, law enforcement arrested more than 600 suspected traffickers and sex buyers/exploiters (Johns) in total. Officers rescued 170 victims, including 14 children.
Despite the successes of this operation, the work does not end here. LADA will continue to prosecute these cases year-round, employing stronger tools to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.

Please, pray for the Arizona State trooper who was shot in the line of duty tonight.ππ» At least one Department of Public Safety trooper was shot in central Phoenix Thursday evening, sources tell Arizonaβs Family. Details are extremely limited, but sourcesβ¦
UPDATE: Police have identified the man accused of shooting a state trooper, and hurting three others during a SWAT operation in central Phoenix on Thursday evening.
Darelle Belle, 51, is facing 18 counts of attempted murder along with several other felony charges.
Authorities say SWAT troopers were serving a βhigh-risk search warrantβ at the A & F Trailer and RV park near 24th Avenue and Indian School Road, just east of Interstate 17 at about 7 p.m.
According to DPS, troopers were looking for Bell when two women saw the troopers approaching and ran inside to warn him. Officials said Bell has an extensive criminal record of drug and weapons-related charges.
βAlmost immediately following, the suspect began to fire rounds at our SWAT officers. SWAT officers returned fire. During the exchange of gunfire, one of our sergeants was hit in the shoulder by a round, and he also was wounded in the bicep,β DPS Sgt. Kameron Lee said.
Lee said itβs unknown if the bicep injury was from shrapnel or a bullet.
Three other troopers were also hit by shrapnel as they returned fire, striking Bell, who was later sent to the hospital.

WATCH IN FULL: President Donald J. Trump's Super Bowl interview:
POTUS on his Super Bowl prediction: "I like both areas of our country very much. I better not make any predictions β you get yourself in big trouble. But I think it's going to be a really great game."
POTUS on the Hall of Fame snub of Bill Belichick: "I thought it was terrible. He's won so much... He's had a little bit of a controversial year-and-a-half, two years, maybe, but what difference does that make? He should be in there right at the top."
POTUS: "Democrats have gone to another subject. I think they're probably saying, 'Dictator!' or something. They've got a new word. They don't use the word 'affordability' anymore."
Q: "At what point are we in the Trump economy?"
POTUS: "I'd say we're there now. I'm very proud of it... We have a GDP of 5.6% despite a shutdown... $18 trillion is being invested in our country as we speak... You're already seeing it in construction."
POTUS: "Crime, historically in this country, it's down at the lowest level it's ever been. We've had less murders than we've had in decades β and you know why? Because we're tough on crime."
POTUS: "We need elections where people aren't able to cheat... I'm going to get it done β and by the way, it polls [high], even with Democrats."
NBC: "We should note voter ID rules do have wide public support, but the vast majority of Democrats on Capitol Hill oppose them."
