It is with deep sadness that the New Castle County Division of Police announces the passing of Detective Christopher N. Skrobot on Thursday, February 5, 2026
Detective Christopher Skrobot began his distinguished career with the New Castle County Police Department on January 19, 2016, as a member of the 42nd Recruit Class. Following his graduation from the Police Academy, he was assigned to B-Squad in the Patrol Division, where he quickly earned a reputation as a dedicated Officer who led by example, consistently demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to the community.
In October 2020, after completing the rigorous Police Motorcycle Operators Course, he became a certified member of the New Castle County Police Motorcycle Unit, where he proudly rode a motorcycle for escorts, parades, and special events.
In December 2020, Detective Skrobot was transferred to the Evidence Detective Unit, where he made an immediate impact and quickly established himself as a thorough, meticulous investigator, a role he held for the remainder of his career.
Detective Skrobot was also a dedicated volunteer with the Claymont Fire Company, committing himself to public service, a commitment that remained at the heart of his career.
In April 2024, Chris was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a form of blood cancer. Despite this challenge, he continued to serve his community and support his family with courage and dedication.

We are saddened to share the passing of K9 Tony, a 10-year-old Dutch Shepherd who faithfully served our community throughout his career.
Alongside his handler, Tony supported Patrol, SWAT, and several specialized units, playing an important role in countless operations and contributing to the safety of our officers and the public. His drive, loyalty, and work ethic represented the very best of our K9 program.
Tony passed away due to medical complications. His dedication and service will not be forgotten, and he will always be remembered as a valued partner and protector.
Our thoughts are with his handler and everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

NEW: 7 Tren de Aragua illegals ARRESTED for ATM robbery in Baton Rouge LA — the same scheme is happening nationwide as part of a "jackpotting scheme" ...they began investigating an organized criminal group linked to multiple ATM jackpotting attempts across the country. Jackpotting is where criminals hack ATMs and drain the cash.
The group is based out of Houston and has ties to Tren de Aragua organizations in Venezuela, Mexico and Spain, arrest documents say. Officials said they were linked to six ATM attacks in the greater Houston area and one in Tennessee.
On Jan. 31, 2026, troopers and East Baton Rouge detectives saw one of the suspects stop at an Essential Credit Union ATM, exit the vehicle, manipulate a panel on the ATM and continue to manipulate the ATM. The suspect then left the area; officials believe this is a common tactic used by the organization to test law enforcement response before theft is committed.
Officials were able to track the suspects to an Airbnb in Breaux Bridge. A search warrant was executed, where officials found tools and items used to commit ATM thefts as well as documentation and evidence of ATM thefts.
