(WARNING 21+) Prosecutors presented disturbing surveillance video in court showing a man opening fire inside a Southern California synagogue in April, killing a woman and injuring three other people. The short clip that purports to depict John Earnest, 20, storming into the Chabad of Poway synagogue armed with an assault rifle was shown to a judge who will decide whether the defendant should stand trial. Earnest has pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and an unrelated arson charge at a mosque. The murder charge, classified as a hate crime, would make him eligible for the death penalty if convicted, but prosecutors have not said what punishment they will seek. #shooting
Authorities in Michigan say three Amish children, ages six to 13, were killed and another was seriously injured after a car struck their horse-drawn buggy. All four children were siblings traveling home from school, according to the Lansing State Journal. The injured child was taken to a local hospital. Additional details on their condition were not immediately available. Authorities said the buggy was struck from behind around 3.20pm Wednesday as it traveled along Vermontville Highway near Charlotte in southern Michigan's Chester Township. The elderly man who was driving the car was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
A small plane crashed onto the roof of a shopping center in Southern California, killing the pilot and leaving a passenger in critical condition, according to authorities. An aircraft believed to be a single-engine Cessna 177 crashed onto the roof of a mall in Torrance after it went off a runway at a local airport, federal officials said. The crash was reported at around 12:15pm at the Rolling Hills Plaza on Crenshaw Boulevard, the Los Angeles Times reported. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

At least four people have been killed and another 30 have been injured after a tour bus crashed outside of Bryce Canyon National Park Friday. Around 12-15 of those hurt are also said to have sustained 'very critical injuries' in the crash along Route 12, the Utah Highway Patrol announced. Itโ€™s believed the bus, which was thought to be carrying 30 people, struck a guard rail and rolled over around three-and-a-half miles west of the park at 12:00pm local time. Witnesses say the bus started drifting and veered off of the road when the driver over-corrected. No other car was involved. The bus was carrying a group of Chinese-speaking tourists and was heading eastbound on the mountain road toward the national park.
Walmart says it will stop selling electronic cigarettes at its namesake stores and Sam's Clubs following a string illnesses and deaths related to vaping. The nation's largest retailer said Friday that it will complete its exit from e-cigarettes after selling through current inventory. It cited growing federal, state and local regulatory complexity regarding vaping products. More than 500 people have been diagnosed with vaping-related breathing illnesses. An eight death was reported this week. But health officials still have not identified the cause. Meanwhile, the retailer still sells cigarettes and chewing tobacco, but raised the purchasing age to 21 in May.
Climate change protests took over big cities across the country on Friday, with hundreds of thousands skipping school in Boston, Washington DC, Omaha, Indianapolis and Greenborough to join millions around the globe in the lead-up to teenage activist Greta Thunberg's appearance in New York for a summit at the UN. In New York itself, the city's Department of Education said all its 1.1 million schoolchildren were free to skip class to participate in the strike if they had parental consent - without any fear of punishment as Thunberg, who has been nominated for a Nobel prize for her climate activism, spearheaded a rally at the United Nations headquarters. It appears that many took heed of the relaxed school attendance laws, as the streets of Manhattan overflowed with thousands of young protesters on Friday afternoon. ๐ŸŒŽ
