Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is on Capitol Hill this week to meet with lawmakers as the social media giant faces scrutiny from the Justice Department and members of Congress, the company confirmed on Wednesday. Facebook said in a statement that Zuckerberg would be in Washington to 'talk about future internet regulation' with policymakers but has no public events planned. He is holding meetings late Wednesday and on Thursday on Capitol Hill. A person briefed on the matter said Zuckerberg was also expected to hold meetings with the Trump administration.

Panic broke out on a Delta flight when the aircraft plunged nearly 30,000 feet in seven minutes, prompting petrified passengers to text goodbyes to loved ones while flight attendants tried to reign in the chaos. Photos from inside the aircraft showed passengers desperate for answers after oxygen masks dropped from the overhead compartment. Preliminary FlightAware data showed the flight from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale was about halfway through its route on Wednesday when it rapidly descended from an altitude 39,000 feet to 10,000 feet due to what Delta called 'cabin pressurization irregularity en route'. The plane was diverted to Tampa 'out of an abundance of caution', a Delta spokesperson said, and landed 'without incident'. Mechanics at Tampa International Airport are now assessing the plane to determine what went wrong. โ๏ธ

Three couples were given at least 20 lashes each using a rattan cane in Aceh province, Indonesia, for public displays of affection, which violates the region's strict Sharia legal code. One woman was seen collapsing in pain after the beating and had to be helped on to a stretcher by nearby guards. Aceh is Indonesia's only province which applies Sharia law, but ministers are currently considering rolling out a new legal code across the country which would include punishments such as a year in jail for extramarital sex and six months for unmarried couples 'living together as man and wife'. #facepalm
