The North Perry and Mentor-on-the-Lake police departments, Ohio are mourning the "untimely passing" of their former officer, 32-year-old Kyle Curtner, who died on New Year’s Day.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Patrol Officer Kyle Curtner, who left us far too soon on January 1st, 2026. Kyle served our department as a part‑time police officer from May 2016 through December 2017 before continuing his career with the North Perry Police Department.

ICYMI: A military-style truck with no license plates led deputies on a more than hour-long chase across Harris County and Houston, Texas after investigators say it hit at least 10 vehicles and tried to ram law enforcement.

The pursuit ended on the Eastex Freeway after SWAT deployed gas and the driver surrendered and is now facing multiple felony charges.

Illinois: A Springfield police officer sustained head injuries in a two-vehicle accident involving a marked squad car near the intersection of 5th St. and South Grand Ave. at 2:11 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2025.

The officer was transported to a local hospital. The other driver, Albert Ngandjui Nacteta, 52, from Springfield, was cited for moving violations and driving under the influence.

Nacteta was taken to the Sangamon County jail. On Jan. 2, 2026, he was charged with aggravated driving under the influence by the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office.
