A California man was arrested for allegedly making false threats against the Los Angeles County Fair just to avoid going there with his parents. Authorities said that the Los Angeles County Fair notified them that it had received an email Friday at about 3pm stating that there would be a mass shooting at the site on Sunday, according to KTLA. The Pomona Police Department said they and the FBI immediately launched an investigation into the email, tracking it to Erik Villasenor, of Sylmar, California. Police and a tactical team arrived at his home and arrested him. #facepalm
Saudi Arabia speeds up its executions with 134 people put to death already this year - some crucified or beheaded - including six who were children when they were arrested. The shocking figures, given at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, come despite Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's pledge to reduce the use of the death penalty. In 2018, the country killed 149 people, with 46 left on death row by the end of the year. According to The Death Penalty Project's report many of the 46 have now been killed as the country's recourse to executions has 'intensified alarmingly' in recent months.

Police fired chemical-laced blue water and tear gas at protesters who lobbed Molotov cocktails outside the Hong Kong government office complex today. Violence flared anew after thousands of pro-democracy supporters marched through downtown shopping district in defiance of a police ban - the latest expression of a popular revolt that has raged for the last 99 days. Shops were shut amid fears of renewed violence in the semi-autonomous Chinese territory that has been unsettled by months of protests. A mixed crowd of hardcore protesters in black and wearing masks, along with families with children, spilled into the roads of the Causeway Bay shopping belt. Some waved U.S. and British flags, while others carried posters reiterating their calls for democratic reforms. Police had turned down a request by the Civil Human Rights Front to hold the march but the demonstrators were undeterred, as they have been all summer. The march disrupted traffic and many shops, including the Sogo department store, closed their doors.

A Saudi Arabian man has been arrested after he filmed himself repeatedly firing a gun before placing the pistol inside a baby's mouth. The shocking video, filmed in Riyadh, captures a man later identified as the child's brother as he appears to shoot into the air three times 'in celebration'. Another man then tells the alleged shooter to 'make the baby smell the gun powder', and he places the pistol inside the infant's mouth. Riyadh Police spokesman Chaker Sulaiman told online newspaper Sabq that the man, who was in his 20s, had been arrested.
