California regulators just got slapped down, but this isnβt new. For years San Bernardino Sheriff Shannon Dicus has been sounding the alarm: unlicensed grows and illegal cannabis is widespread throughout CA. Operation Hammer Strike was launched to fight exactly this β shutting down thousands of illicit grows and seizing hundreds of thousands of illegal plants in San Bernardino County.
The recent ruling against California Department of Cannabis Control proves what law enforcement warned: the regulatory system fails to stop the black market.

A Lakeville MA firefighter seriously injured at the scene of a fatal Middleboro fire Sunday has been identified as Deputy Chief Pamala Garant, as officials released new details of the heroic efforts first responders made to save her.
The Lakeville Fire Department, along with several area fire departments, were dispatched to the scene of a fatal fire at a Middleboro condominium building to provide mutual aid at around 10 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, the department said in a statement.
During the response, Garant was seriously injured when a portion of the condominium building collapsed, pinning her beneath burning debris, the Lakeville Fire Department said in a post on social media.
Middleboro Acting Fire Lt. Robert Delaney, who had seen Garant working towards the back of the building in the area of the collapse, located and freed Garant and with the help of Middleboro Police Officer Aidan Nemar, moved her to safety.
Garant was treated at the scene and transported to St. Lukeβs Hospital, where she is recovering, officials said.

Watching my son graduate from the police academy is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You stood in front of every challenge, pushed through every obstacle, and proved what dedication, discipline, and heart truly look like.
You didnβt just earn a badge β you earned a place among the men and women who protect and serve with honor. Belleville is gaining not just a police officer, but a young man with integrity, compassion, and a strength of character that makes me proud beyond words.
As your father, Iβve watched you grow, sacrifice, and work for this dream. And now I get to watch you step into your purpose. I am humbled, inspired, and unbelievably proud of the man youβve become.
Congratulations, son. Wear that badge with pride. Youβve earned every bit of this moment β and I know this is only the beginning of the greatness ahead of you.

Masked prowlers have returned to a Larchmont condo building for the third time since July, leaving families on edge as surveillance video shows suspects climbing onto the property and peering inside windows. A neighbor believes the same group has come back multiple times and worries they may eventually try to force their way in. A similar break-in in Bel Air last week, where intruders shattered a bedroom door and stole valuables in minutes, has only heightened those concerns. Police are now investigating both incidents as residents fear the suspects could become violent.

The misuse of the Lewis List to retaliate against a government witness is as dangerous as it is unlawful. Novick deserves reinstatement, restoration of his career, and full exoneration.
Anything less rewards political abuse and undermines the very foundation of the justice system.
πππ
Cory Novick was fired after federal prosecutors sent notice to the U.S. Marshals Service claiming he had provided conflicting testimony in a high profile, racially charged case.
Mr. Novick was not notified of what testimony was in conflict, who had reviewed the testimony, or how the finding supported the conclusion.
In circular fashion, he was simply told he was on a list and thus would be fired.
No notice or opportunity to be heard was ever granted.
Mr. Novick was part of a crime suppression unit that was flagged down by a uniformed officer who stated that a suspected violent gang member was circling the area on a moped, apparently trying to locate another individual.
When police spotted the suspected gang member and attempted to speak to him, he sped away driving dangerously and erratically through city streets. The flight ended when the suspect drove his moped into oncoming traffic and was killed.
Stoked to believe the death was racially based, a mob attacked a police station.
Federal prosecutors responded by prosecuting two police officers for homicide and obstruction of justice.
Prosecutors repeatedly called Mr. Novick to testify about his recollection of events at both the grand jury and at trial.
Novick provided truthful testimony in both.
Mr. Novick left the MPD and took a job as Deputy U.S. Marshal.
Nine months into his tenure, he was fired. The sole justification for this termination was that federal prosecutors had identified him as given contradictory testimony.
Novick, however, was never impeached at trial, nor was he notified of, or allowed to defend himself before a reviewing panel.
Mr. Novick asserts that such "star-chamber" like proceedings violate basic due process, which requires, at least, notice and an opportunity to be heard.
The suit raises the issue whether law enforcement officials are protected by the very rights they seek to uphold, or, whether they can subject to arbitrary and capricious decision making that could be used to shift blame for flawed prosecutions or to punish them for not supporting the personal or political aims of a prosecutor.
The case represents the continued effort to support the rights of our clients, particularly federal employees, for merely performing their jobs with competence and integrity.
