π Police Balloons in the Macyβs Thanksgiving Day Parade π
As we head into Thanksgiving week, hereβs a fun piece of parade history! Police-themed balloons have floated through the Macyβs Thanksgiving Day Parade since 1947, beginning with the Comical Copβan endearing character in a Victorian police uniform who became the first law-enforcement-inspired balloon in the parade.
In 2011, Macyβs revived the character as Harold the Policeman for the paradeβs 85th anniversary. Harold quickly became a fan favorite, adding holiday cheer while honoring the commitment and service of law enforcement.
Harold officially retired in 2016, but his legacy lives onβreminding us that officers not only protect and serve, but also help bring joy to the communities they love.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving week! π¦

The Clinton Township Police Department is responding to an incident at the Partridge Creek Mall involving the report of gunfire. Upon responding to the area, police officers located one victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported from the scene to an area hospital by ambulance.
A person of interest was developed during the initial investigation. This individual is described as a black male wearing a green hooded-sweatshirt with white flowers, jeans, and tennis shoes. This person was last seen fleeing the mall to the west. This incident appears to be an isolated event that was contained between two parties, and not targeted at the tree lighting ceremony.
The Clinton Township Police Department urges all area residents to ensure their windows and doors are locked and to be alert as we search for the suspect.

Connecticut: A fire police officer and a firefighter were hurt in separate incidents in the Jewett City borough of Griswold Saturday.
On Saturday evening, a vehicle hit a fire police officer who was working on Main Street and East Main Street at the end of the annual Snowflake Parade. The fire department and American Ambulance took the officer to Backus Hospital in Norwich for assessment and treatment.
Fire police members for the Jewett City Fire Department assist with traffic control, according to the town of Griswold's website.
In another incident later in the evening, a firefighter was injured while handling an outside fire off the railroad tracks in the area of South Main Street and Wedgewood Drive, the fire department said.
The firefighter had minor injuries and was taken to Backus Hospital to be assessed and treated.
Connecticut State Police are investigating both incidents, the fire department said.
The Jewett City Fire Department said in an update Sunday that both were home recovering.

Kristen Welker: βWell, and banana prices are up almost 7%, coffee prices up nearly 19%. Isn't the fact that you're rolling back tariffs an admission that ultimately they do drive up prices for consumers?β
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent: βKristen, how much does your arm weigh?β
Kristen Welker: βThat I do not know.β
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent: βExactly. But you know how much you weigh, and you get on the scale every morning. Inflation is a composite number. And we look at everything. So we are trying β we try to push down the things we can control. And as I said that we are working on β the energy prices are down. And everything flows from that. And I think we're going to see these other prices come down. And again, many of these goods were part of trade deals with countries that have been in the works for months.β
