Former Lakers forward Christian Wood turned the tables on three would-be burglars during a brazen daytime home invasion in Sherman Oaks. Police say Wood fired three shots into the ground after the suspects broke through the back door, sending them running empty-handed. NEW: A CBP agent was shot at near the Bridge of America Port of Entry in El Paso, Texas. Reports of a massive law enforcement response at both sides of the border (Mexican and US) in response to this shooting.

Nassau Police officer Michael Hyland, injured while assisting with a funeral procession in early October, is released from Stony Brook University Hospital Thursday.

"After 31 days in the hospital, Police Officer Michael Hyland headed to St. Charles Rehabilitation today to continue his recovery from a motorcycle crash that nearly killed him.

Officer Hyland was escorting a funeral procession last month in Suffolk County when his motorcycle was hit by a truck. He spent eight days on life support and almost a month in the ICU, with injuries from head to toe – including a punctured lung, broken bones, and a spine that separated from his skull.

Today, County Executive Blakeman, Commissioner Ryder, and Officer Hyland’s Nassau County PD family celebrated his release from Stony Brook University Hospital and the next step in his amazing recovery.

BOND SET AT $1.3 MILLION

Bobby Michael Dennis — the suspect accused of ambushing a Jacksonville police officer and K-9 with an AR-15 — faced a judge today.

Bond was set at $1.3 million total:
• $1,000,000 — Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer
• $200,000 — Retaliation
• $100,000 — Interference with a Police Service Animal

Dennis was captured Wednesday night after a four-day search.
Infrared DPS helicopter video shows officers closing in on him in a wooded area.

Jacksonville Police say the officer was shot twice while trying to reach cover — ONE shot hit her after she had already fallen.
