This morning, I had a very good telephone call with President Lula, of Brazil. We discussed many things, but it was mostly focused on the Economy, and Trade, between our two Countries. We will be having further discussions, and will get together in the not too distant future, both in Brazil and the United States. I enjoyed the call — Our Countries will do very well together!

Members of the first responder community gathered outside Lake Canyon Elementary School in Galt Monday to offer support to the family of a Chowchilla police officer who died in a car crash on Friday.  

Officer Ray Barrantes was involved in the crash while on duty late Friday, Chowchilla police said. The circumstances of the collision are under investigation.  

On Monday, law enforcement and firefighters escorted Barrantes’ son to school outside Lake Canyon Elementary School.  

“We consider ourselves more of a family than a department,” said Daniel Denny with Chowchilla police. “We all know each other. We all eat lunch together.”  Barrantes’ wife Jessica Barrantes said  the show of support “means so much to us.”💙

UPDATE: Dino statue returned to Brentwood gas station.

The beloved dinosaur mascot stolen from a Sinclair gas station in Brentwood has been returned, reports say.

The statue, dubbed “Claire,” was stolen late last month from the station at 13060 San Vicente Blvd., though reports by KNX and others indicated that it had been returned by Monday morning.
