New Jersey: A Trenton police officer was shot Saturday night across the street from police headquarters, the department said.

The officer suffered a non life-threatening wound to the leg and was in stable condition, a police spokesperson said at 11:30 p.m.

The incident occurred in the area of Lincoln, Perry and North Clinton avenues at about 9:15 p.m. Police headquarters is across the intersection on North Clinton Avenue.

Further details about the shooting were not immediately available. The New Jersey State Police is leading the investigation, the department said.

Funeral services were held Friday for Broken Arrow Oklahoma Police Recruit Franklin David Leinen, a 40-year-old Army veteran, husband and father who passed away last month during physical training after a medical emergency.

A procession followed the funeral services at First Baptist Church Broken Arrow, where fellow first responders and community members paid their respects.

Leinen was a combat veteran who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. After his military service, he continued working overseas for the U.S. State Department before joining the Broken Arrow Police Department.

Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of blue and blood.🙏🏻
