'The Failing New York Times, in one of the most devastating portrayals of bad journalism in history, got caught by a leaker that they are shifting from their Phony Russian Collusion Narrative (the Mueller Report & his testimony were a total disaster), to a Racism Witch Hunt,' Trump tweeted. The president is referencing comments The New York Times' Executive Editor Dean Baquet made during a town hall meeting with staff on Monday where he said the paper would be shifting its focus from the Russian investigation and report to the president's perceived racism.

Tourists were among at least 4,000 people evacuated today as wildfires swept through parts of Gran Canaria, Spain. Hotels in the centre of the holiday island were closed as a combination of high temperatures and strong winds turned the region into a tinderbox. Tonight the fire, which erupted near the town of Tejeda, was moving on two fronts. It is the third such wildfire to hit the island in a week and people are being moved to safety from as many as 40 towns, however the main tourist strips along the coast are unaffected, officials said. 🔥

Hong Kong protesters have displayed their biggest show of force yet in a mammoth demonstration which saw nearly two million defy the Beijing-backed government and rally against growing Chinese encroachment. A stream of umbrellas snaked through the city streets as the pro-democracy activists marched from Victoria Park, despite police banning the demonstration from leaving the confines of the square. Escalating tensions in the former British colony boiled over last week when authorities clashed with protesters in the territory's airport, which plunged into chaos. But - in the face of increasing anger over excessive police violence and Chinese threats - the rally concluded peacefully and without reports of any flare-ups. Organisers said at least 1.7million people turned out for the demonstration, marking the 11th consecutive weekend of public protests. #retract
