Acres: 5370
Containment: 62%
Personnel: 1,158
Firefighters continue to make good progress on the Canyon Fire located to the east of the city of Piru. Crews worked through the night to monitor and extinguish isolated heat sources. Minimal fire activity allowed crews to continue improving control lines. Overnight infrared flights along the northeast portion of the fire identified areas of remaining heat which are being used to guide todayβs suppression priorities.
The northeast section continues to have the highest concentration of remaining heat. Infrared mapping taking place today will further help crews locate and extinguish hot spot areas, prevent flare-ups and protect the fire perimeter. Dozer lines on the eastern edge of the fire will be strengthened to minimize the chance of spread. Across the incident, firefighters remain prepared to respond quickly to any flare-ups while suppression repair and backhaul will continue to address impacts from firefighting operations.
Hot, dry conditions will persist today with high temperatures ranging from 96β104Β°F, relative humidity dropping to 15β20%, and wind gusts up to 20 mph.

I've received tremendous support from Republicans in Congress for my bill to limit redistricting to the beginning of each decade.
This will save California taxpayers the $250 million Newsom plans to spend on his fraudulent ballot measure.

Minnesota: Four correctional officers were injured Saturday afternoon after a man serving a life sentence for first-degree murder attacked staff at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Rush City. The assault happened around 3:20 p.m. on Aug. 9 while staff were conducting routine cell searches and suspected the man of being in possession of homemade alcohol, also referred to as βhooch.β
When officers approached, the man assaulted them with a makeshift weapon described as a shank, injuring four officers.
One officer sustained a puncture wound and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover. Three other officers, who helped restrain the attacker, were taken to a hospital by state vehicle for evaluation and have since been released.
The DOC said the area of the prison where the attack occurred will remain on lockdown over the weekend. The rest of the facility resumed normal operations last night. The man accused of the assault is being transferred to the DOCβs maximum-security prison in Oak Park Heights.
The departmentβs Office of Special Investigations is handling the case and will refer it to the Chisago County Attorneyβs Office for possible felony assault charges.
DOC officials said the man has been housed at Rush City since his sentencing for first-degree murder.
Commissioner Paul Schnell called the attack a βcowardlyβ and βsenseless act of violence,β adding that the department will pursue every available option to hold the man accountable.
Authorities have not released the identities of the officers injured.

Indiana: A Speedway police officer was injured when their car was struck by a suspect's vehicle during a pursuit Friday night.
IMPD officers initially responded to a report around 9 p.m. Friday of a house that had been shot at on Dunk Drive, near West 38th Street and Moller Road. Two people at the home ran from the scene, got into a vehicle and drove off, police said.
Moments later, a Speedway officer recognized the car and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. As the officer began pursuit of the suspect vehicle, a second Speedway officer in the area attempted to join the pursuit. Police said the driver of the suspect vehicle ran a red light at West 34th Street and Auburn Road, crashing into the second Speedway officer's vehicle.
The officer was taken to Methodist Hospital, where his condition was said to be "stable," according to an IMPD spokesperson.
