DEVELOPING! Richmond County, Georgia: Avoid the area of Barton Chapel and Meadowbrook Drive and all of Meadowbrook. A shooting has occurred with multiple individuals shot and deputies are actively searching and chasing suspects in the Meadowbrook area.

UPDATE: On August 3, 2025, at approximately 5:15pm, The Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded to the corner of Meadowbrook Drive and Deans Bridge Road in the parking lot of Advanced Auto Parts in reference to a shooting. Upon officer’s arrival they located four victims (juveniles) with apparent gunshot wounds. Three of the victims were transported to area hospitals and one of the victims was found to have succumbed to his injuries. Out of the three juveniles transported to area hospitals, one of the victims was listed in critical condition and the other two were listed as stable. The Richmond County Coroner, Mark Bowen responded and was on scene.

The crime scene stretched a large area and additional units from our Crime Suppression Team, K9 teams, and S.W.A.T. Team were called into to assist with a search of individuals responsible through the Meadowbrook neighborhood along with assistance from the Columbia County sheriffs Office Drone Team. Investigators are still currently on scene and interviewing individuals at this time. This incident is still in its early stages of investigation and no further information will be released at this time. When more information becomes available it will be released as soon as possible.

The CAL FIRE sadly announced the death of Mendocino Unit Firefighter I, Christion Schoenfeld who passed away in an off-duty vehicle accident in Mendocino County.

BREAKING: In another sharp escalation, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Sunday night he would seek to declare the seats of House Democrats vacant after they left the state.

"This truancy ends now. The derelict Democrat House members must return to Texas and be in attendance when the House reconvenes at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025. For any member who fails to do so, I will invoke Texas Attorney General Opinion No. KP-0382 to remove the missing Democrats from membership in the Texas House.

It seems to me that the only way some of the fleeing Democrats can avoid bribery charges is to not break quorum.

It seems that would eliminate any potential quid pro quo connected to any payment they received to deny a quorum and skip a vote."
