Knox County Deputy Dalton Swanger was critically injured responding to a call in Juneβstruck in the head while searching for a suspect in a dark wooded area. His injury was captured live on βOn Patrol: Live.β
After days in the hospital and a medically induced coma, Deputy Swanger has shared his first public statement. He thanks the medical teams, fellow deputies, family, and the countless supporters who sent prayers, letters, and organized fundraisers.
βYour prayers carried me through some of the darkest moments of my life,β he wrote.
Swanger described the harrowing moments before the attackβmoving quietly, flashlight off to avoid detection, as objects were thrown at officers closing in on the suspect.
His resolve remains unshaken. He vows to return to duty stronger and ready.

Ohio: Deputy and driver injured in Harrison Township crash; both hospitalized.
The Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the two-vehicle crash involving a marked Montgomery County Sheriffβs Office vehicle on early Saturday morning.
According to the MCSO, the crash happened at approximately 1:50 a.m. on Needmore Rd. at the I-75 SB on-ramp in Harrison Township.
The Dayton Post found a 2019 Dodge Charger (MCSO vehicle) was driven by a 28-year-old from Centerville, was heading east on Needmore Road. A 2001 GMC truck driven by a 54-year-old from Dayton was heading west on Needmore Road when it turned left to the entrance ramp for I-75 SB.
The post said that, while negotiating the turn, the Dodge hit the GMC. It said because of the crash, the GMC driver was ejected. Both drivers were taken to Miami Valley Hospital.
Officials said the 54-year-old had serious, life-threatening injuries. The 28-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries.

Officer Thomas O'Grady has retired from the Parma Police Department, Ohio after 28 years of service.
O'Grady dedicated much of his career as a longtime K-9 handler beside his K9 partners Tyson and Faolon, and ended his service as a detective assigned to the Specialized Investigations Unit. Well Done Brother.

Watch: A small plane made an emergency landing in the ocean near an Oak Island, North Carolina pier on Saturday evening.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. ET. Crews rescued the sole pilot on board, who was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
