Galveston Police's pubic information officer told @police_frequency in the Telegram: 'Mr. Neely was wearing a welding mask on his head at the time that he was taken into custody. The mask was falling down and Officer Brosch asked Mr. Neely for permission to remove the mask and hold it while they walked.' Law enforcement said they were familiar with Neely and he had been reprimanded for trespassing in the area before. They had given him several warnings before walking him using the rope. The department said the officers were wearing body cameras. They are not facing disciplinary action.๐ฎ๐ปโโ๏ธ

A 16-year-old student at a South Carolina Catholic school has been arrested for posting racist videos of himself threatening to 'shoot up' his high school. Robert Loia, the principal of Cardinal Newman School in Columbia said the student was expelled in July after school officials discovered multiple 'racist' videos that showed him 'pretending to shoot at black people'. In one video, the student used real guns to shoot a box of Jordan shoes, saying he 'hated black people' and that 'they are stinky'. The teenager also used the N-word in the videos. ๐ฎ๐ปโโ๏ธ

A backfiring motorcycle sparked mass panic in Times Square on Tuesday evening as tourists and New Yorkers fled for their lives after mistaking the sound for gunfire. The loud bangs could be heard at the Crossroads of the World at around 9.30pm, with multiple backfires on the street near Eighth Avenue and West 42nd Street, according to the #NYPD. The popping sounds sparked a stampede as footage showed crowds of people fleeing in terror, with some flocking towards West 47th Street and Seventh Avenue, police told WNBC. Police said 22 people were hurt in the chaos, four of whom were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ปโโ๏ธ #NYC

The Trump campaign and Republican Party sued California on Tuesday over a new law requiring presidential candidates to release their tax returns to run in the state's primary, legislation that was aimed at prying loose President Donald Trump's returns. California's law is 'a naked political attack against the sitting President of the United States,' the state and national Republican parties argued in one of two lawsuits filed in U.S. District Court in Sacramento. The law signed last week by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom requires candidates for president and governor to release five years of tax returns to appear on the state's primary ballot, but the requirement does not extend to the general election.

Donald Trump on Wednesday ahead of his trip to Dayton, Ohio, complained the 'fake news' ignored ties the suspected mass shooter had to liberal presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. A Twitter account believed to be owned by Connor Betts, the 24-year-old suspected of killing nine people in Dayton on Sunday, has tweeted supportive messages for Warren and Sanders, in addition to promoting content from ANTIFA, a left-wing, militant, anti-fascist group. Trump touted those ties in a tweet ahead of his visit to the city to comfort victims, citing a report from One America News Network, a right-wing TV station.

A Georgia police officer was dragged along a busy interstate highway while hanging from the vehicle during a wild car chase. In an astonishing dash cam video released Friday, Derric Alexander Simpson is shown being stopped by cops on suspicion of using his phone behind the wheel on Thursday around 11.40am. The clip shows officer Nathan Daley and his colleague talking to Simpson. According to the police department, the cop reached in through the driver's side window when he saw the 35-year-old put his Malibu Chevrolet into gear. As the driver suddenly takes off down the I-285, Daley's feet leave the ground and the car whizzes around the corner near the Ashford Dunwoody Road entrance ramp. ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ปโโ๏ธ
