Eight people have been arrested in Hong Kong after police found weapons and suspected petrol bombs in a raid on a building in the New Territories district as the city faces a new wave of rallies and a strike in support of protesters. Police said they found one suspected Molotov cocktail and a batch of raw materials thought to be used to produce the incendiary weapons. Two bows, six arrows and essential oil containing cannabis were also found. Andy Chan, the founder of a banned pro-independence party, was among the arrested suspects. Hong Kong police said seven men and one woman aged between 24 and 31 were arrested at an industrial building on Thursday evening in the district of Sha Tin on charges of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of explosives without a licence. Three people have been killed and at least two others injured after a cliff collapsed just feet away from a lifeguard tower in California on Friday, authorities have said. The tragic incident occurred around 2:55pm local time on Grandview Beach in Encinitas, just north of San Diego. First responders, including lifeguards, raced towards the wreck and began digging victims out from beneath the rubble. A female victim, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims were airlifted to hospital in a critical condition but later died, officials revealed early Saturday morning.😱
