South Carolina: Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said a suspect died after a shooting involving a deputy early Wednesday.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the shooting happened shortly after midnight at the 7600 block of Hunt Club Road.
During a news conference Wednesday, Lott played audio from a 911 call in the area from a resident saying they saw two people walking around checking cars at an apartment complex. The caller then states they heard gunshots.
Video of the shooting was also shown Wednesday, with Lott noting that he spoke with the family of the deceased before playing it.
The bodycam video shows a deputy running into the entrance of the complex and chasing a suspect before deploying a K-9. Lott said two shots aimed at the deputy and K-9 are then heard first before the deputy returned fire.
The dog, identified as RCSD K-9 Kiro, was shot in the ear but received stitches and is expected to recover.

Los Angeles: We’ve seen potted plants, concrete barriers and even loud music playing the same song over and over to keep homeless encampments from setting up in front of business and properties but this is a first: A sprinkler system set high up on a pole spraying water into the street & sidewalk.
Will it deter them from setting up or is this just going to turn into a free street shower for the homeless?
