BREAKING OVERNIGHT: One man is dead, and an officer injured after a police response in Springville escalated to a shooting Saturday night.

Utah: Springville Police says the incident began just before 10:30 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a woman crying and screaming in a neighborhood near 200 South 300 West.

Once officers made contact and began their investigation, a man came out brandishing a large knife, attacking one of the officers. The officers drew their weapons and fired, wounding the man before immediately rendering medical aid until paramedics arrived.

The man was transported to Utah Valley Hospital, where he later died. The identity has not been released at time of reporting.

One officer sustained a minor stab wound that was considered not life-threatening, and has since been released from the hospital.

Watch: A patriot was involved in an altercation during a protest in Lafayette, Indiana, when his car was blocked by a crowd.

After a verbal argument, he was physically attacked by a domestic terrorist. In self-defense, he retrieved a gun from his vehicle but did not point or fire it.

Police investigated the incident and confirmed he did not break any laws, clearing him of any wrongdoing.

NYC: A “heroic” 11-year-old called the police after she and three other children were stabbed in Brooklyn, police said.

The incident happened around 10:15 a.m. at a home on 84th Street between 16th and 17th Avenues, fire officials said. The 11-year-old told police she and her three siblings, ages 8, 13 and 16, had been stabbed by a relative, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a man holding a “large meat cleaver covered in blood,” Tisch said.

Another uninjured child had also gone to the neighbors for help, then led police into the building when they arrived, Tisch said. Police were led into a hallway, where they could hear screams from behind a closed door, Tisch said.

Police kicked down the door and found the suspected attacker, she said. Police described the bloody scene as “horrific.” All four children are expected to survive, Tisch said.

“There was five children in there, four hurt and a young man who so bravely went to the neighbors to alert the neighbors to call us. Also that 11 year old who.. made that [911] call –quite heroic on their behalf,” Chief of Department John Chell said.
Officers told the man to drop his weapon before two officers shot at him seven times, striking him at least once, Tisch said. The suspected attacker was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, Tisch said.
Police found a second knife on the scene.

Family members told police the suspected attacker has a history of mental illness, but there is no reported history of domestic violence at the home, police said.

Another officer killed in the line of duty—struck while trying to stop violent criminals recklessly fleeing the law. A dedicated protector, a hero, now gone because of offenders with no regard for life.

This will always be the way I remember Deputy Will May. We all picked on one another, from time to time, all in fun! He was always the jokester sneaking up on you to scare you. Will would always make you smile or laugh being his silly and goofy self!

Asking for prayers for his wife, daughter, son, and the rest of his family and friends. This one hits really hard for Walton County as this was his day off. Yes he volunteered to work OT and was his last call on the way to his home. No one knew it was going to be his last call to his eternal home! 💔😭
