A 'drone-killer' buggy chained to the deck of the USS Boxer is believed to be behind the attack which brought down an Iranian drone. The buggy uses highly sensitive radar to detect small incoming targets and then deploys signal blocking technology to sever the link between the drone and its control tower, causing it to fall from the sky. If the signal-jammer fails, then the buggy's radar technology can be used to direct conventional missiles towards the same target to finish it off. Pictures of the Boxer taken on July 17 as it made its way towards the Strait of Hormuz show the system - officially known as the Light Marine Air Defense Integrated System - on the flight deck. The system is comprised of two parts - the RADA RPS-42 radar system, and the CM202A sensor turret with infrared video cameras.๐Ÿ’ฅ

President Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States shot down an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz as tensions in the region continued to escalate. Trump said the drone was threatening a U.S. ship and was "immediately destroyed.โ€ He said it cameโ€ฆ
Iran has accused the US of taking out one of its own drones by mistake after Donald Trump said the Navy had destroyed an unmanned craft over the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran's deputy foreign minister Abbas Araghchi flatly denied reports that any of its drones had been destroyed, either 'in the Strait of Hormuz nor anywhere else'. 'I am worried that USS Boxer has shot down their own UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) by mistake!' he tweeted on Friday. ๐Ÿ˜ณ #WTF?

The U.S. military has brought back the remains of at least 20 servicemen killed in one of the bloodiest battles of World War II to Hawaii. An Air Force cargo plane flew the remains from Tarawa atoll in the remote Pacific island nation of Kiribati to Hawaii on Wednesday. Marines carried flag-draped caskets off the plane for a ceremony. The remains are among those discovered in March by History Flight, a nonprofit organization that searches for the remains of U.S. servicemen lost in past conflicts. They are believed to belong to Marines and sailors from the 6th Marine Regiment who were killed during the last night of the three-day Battle of Tarawa. More than 6,000 Americans, Japanese and Koreans died in the battle. ๐Ÿ—ฟ

Iran 'confiscates' British tanker with 23 crew on board 'for failing to respect maritime rules' in major escalation of tensions in the Gulf - as fears mount for SECOND 'diverted' vessel. Iran has seized a British-registered oil tanker with 23 crew in the Strait of Hormuz.
A second British-owned vessel is also feared to have been captured by Iranian forces. The Stena Impero was passing through the bottle neck into the Persian Gulf when it turned dramatically to the north at 4pm, UK time. The vessel was surrounded by heavily-armed small craft and a helicopter and ordered to turn north. A second oil tanker, the British-operated, Liberian-flagged Mesdar, turned sharply north towards Iran's coast around the same time the Stena Impero was seized. Iranian authorities have yet to comment on the Mesdar, but marine tracking data showed it turning dramatically off course and towards the Iranian coast. ๐Ÿšข
