The collision, which saw the luxury MSC Opera cruise liner crash into the small River Countess in Venice, took place at about 8.30 am on the Giudecca Canal- one of the major canals in the ancient city. MSC Cruises said the 2,679-passengers onboard the 177-ft high and 902-ft long long liner, which dwarfed the Venice skyline, were approaching the terminal when the ship hit the dock after a technical problem. 🚢

Shocking video has emerged showing the first large group of 116 migrants from Africa illegally wading across the Rio Grande River to enter the United States on Thursday. The group hailed from Angola, Cameroon and the Congo. Men and women were caught on video wading in the waist-deep water with children on their shoulders to enter the U.S. in Texas. They were apprehended by agents at the Del Rio Sector of the border. According to Border Patrol it's the first large group from Africa to try and breach the U.S. border by way of Mexico (the group inset after they were detained). In this fiscal year alone Border Patrol has encountered 182 large groups of more than 100 individuals across the Southwest border.👮🏻♂️

Andrew Lawrence, 22, was in a holding cell at a Staten Island police station when he reached through the bars and grabbed a taser from a cop's vest and threatened two officers with it. The two officers are seen fleeing into the next cell for safety in the disturbing clip. Deputy Inspector Isa Abbassi intervened and convinced Lawrence to drop the taser. Lawrence was charged with reckless endangerment and menacing police, according to court records. He was also ordered to receive a psychiatric evaluation by a judge. 🔫 #taser

Horror North Carolina shark attack! A 17-year-old girl has lost part of her leg and some fingers after they were bitten by a shark at a North Carolina beach on Sunday but she's still a big lover of the beasts. Paige Winter received 'deep lacerations to her leg, pelvic and hand areas' in the attack around noon at Fort Macon State Park, the Atlantic Beach Fire Department. Park ranger Paul Terry told WCTI-TV that it occurred while the teen was swimming and the girl's grandmother said her son bravely fought back when he 'punched the shark in the face five times before it let go'. 😱🦈
