A 40-year-old Mexican national died Monday in El Paso while in custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The man was apprehended by Border Patrol agents in the pre-dawn hours Sunday near the Bridge of the Americas, according to a CBP news release. He was held for illegal re-entry after a prior deportation. He was diagnosed with flu-like symptoms, liver failure and renal failure during a medical evaluation at the processing facility near the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry. He was taken to Las Palmas Medical Center, where he died.

Michael Charles Cohen, 49, walked into the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Friday and robbed a poker cage at gunpoint. He then fled out of the north entrance with cash and casino chips. Video shows him leaving and accosting a woman driving a black Mercedes. Four police officers notice the commotion and rush over to Cohen, who fires at them, hitting an officer in the chest at around 9.45pm. The officer was saved by his bulletproof vest. Cohen was then shot in the head and later died. Police believe Cohen is also responsible for the Bellagio robbery in 2017. Both disguises consisted of a black beanie, jacket and glasses. He is a felon, having been convicted of two counts of bank robbery in 1999 and two more counts in 2008.
