Shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 an officer with the Las Cruces Police Department was investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind a closed Goodwill store at 1240 South Valley Drive in Las Cruces, New Mexico, when she was attacked by a pit bull. As the dog charged at the officer and attempted to bite her, the officer fired at - and struck - the dog.
