A Leon County grand jury decided not to indict any Tallahassee Police Department officers involved in three separate fatal #shootings of suspects โ bringing an end to high drama that surrounded their deliberations all week. Grand jurors found that police officers acted lawfully and were justified in their use of lethal force in the shootings of Mychael Johnson, Tony McDade and Wilbon Woodard. On Friday, the panel issued reports on the shootings while the city released an edited assortment of evidence, dash cam and body camera video of them. TPD Chief Lawrence Revell thanked the grand jury in a news release for its service. Minutes after the report and video were released, protest organizers sent out a group text calling for a protest on Saturday. (Read the Full Story.)

The Tallahassee Police Department has provided an update and has identified the victim in Tuesdayโs fatal officer-involved #shooting on North Monroe Street. TPD has identified the victim as 69-year-old Wilbon Woodard. Officials say officers were called to the Circle K in the 2600 block of North Monroe Street to investigate an altercation. Authorities say the altercation was determined to have occurred in the Super China Buffet parking lot, where the involved officer encountered an armed suspect. Officials say the, "Confrontation ultimately led to the officer having to discharge his firearm," but did not specify what happened prior to the shooting.
