Meanwhile, in Portland. Police officer tells protestor “hiding behind the press like a coward"
Tear gas, fire bombs as police declare Portland protest a 'riot' . Police arrested dozens of people and used tear gas against hundreds of demonstrators in Portland late Saturday as the western US city marked 100 days since Black Lives Matter protests erupted against racism and police brutality. Police quickly declared the rally a "riot" after protesters hurled Molotov cocktails at them, and they responded with a barrage of tear gas to disperse the crowd. At least one person was injured by the fire bombs, police said. Officers arrested dozens of protesters in an ensuing game of cat-and-mouse through a residential district of east Portland.

ROCHESTER N.Y. -- The scene in Rochester has become violent on Saturday night amid protests over the death of Daniel Prude. Fireworks have been set off, objects thrown at law enforcement, fires started, and property destroyed. Police fired pepper balls and tear gas at protesters night after police say they refused to leave and acted aggressively. Eleven individuals were arrested and three law enforcement officers were hospitalized at the Daniel Prude protest. Police declared the protest an “unlawful assembly" following a peaceful gathering at Martin Luther King Jr. Park earlier in the evening. The Rochester Police Department says it saw crowds upwards of 2,000 people walking throughout the city's downtown area.

A man who was shot and wounded by Cook County Sheriff’s police this week was armed, and officers had to use a Taser to subdue him even after he had been shot, authorities said. Just before 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, a sheriff’s police officer was on patrol in unincorporated Cook County near Stickney, where Cook County Sheriff’s police are the primary police agency. The officer saw a vehicle with no front license plate and illegally tinted windows speeding down the street, according to the Sheriff’s office. (Read the full story.)
