Federal agents in Bend, Ore., clashed with hundreds of protesters late Wednesday night after an hourslong standoff sparked by the arrest of two men by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, who said they were a "threat to the public." Bend's episode, which is about a three-hour drive from Portland, was the latest in tensions among protesters, local police and federal agents. The protest spanned hours, as two unmarked ICE buses were blocked by protesters who apparently witnessed the arrests. Shortly before midnight, federal agents removed the two detained men from a bus and left the scene. The protesters also dispersed, according to an Oregon Public Broadcasting reporter. Bend police said it had been made aware ICE agents were in the city conducting an investigation but were not given details, the department said in a statement.

A member of Proud Boys accused of an assault near what once was Seattle’s self-declared autonomous zone may be thrown in jail for one year after allegedly violating the terms of his probation agreement by crossing state lines to visit mass protests in Portland. Tusitala "Tiny" Toese, 24, of Vancouver, Wash., reportedly has a reputation for picking street fights with members of the far-left militant group Antifa. He was convicted on an assault charge after punching a man named Tim Ledwith in the face on a Northeast Portland sidewalk in June 2018. On Tuesday, his probation officer asked an Oregon judge to sign a warrant for Toese's arrest, revoke his probation and sentence him to one year in jail. Toese was arrested in June for allegedly beating a man near the area Seattle protesters declared the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ.

On 08/12/2020 at around 844 AM, Officer Urrea was in the area of Lodi Ave and the railroad tracks when she saw a male in a wheelchair who appeared to be stuck on the tracks. She noticed that the railroad crossing arms started to come down and saw that a train was approaching. She immediately exited her patrol vehicle and began running towards the male. As the train was reaching them, she was able to pull the male out of the wheelchair and they both fell back onto the ground. The male suffered a leg injury that was tended to immediately by Officer Delgado (who had arrived to assist) and Officer Urrea. The 66-year-old male was ultimately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Officer Urrea risked her own life to save another and her actions prevented a tragedy today. We are extremely proud of Officer Erika Urrea and her heroism.

Thousands of people have lined up at a Texas food bank, with cars stretching for a mile as the state struggles with being the third worst affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Fair Park in Dallas County held its fourth food drive since the pandemic was declared in March but the event on Tuesday was the first mega distribution that offered an option for several hundred walk-up clients without transportation. People traveled from the other side of the state to reach the North Texas Food Bank which fed 1,710 families. Images show vehicles weaving through parking lots as over 90 volunteers got to work distributing 10,000 boxes to feed 8,000 people. The desperate long lines have emerged after almost 30 million Americans (about 12%) said in a census of 249 million respondents last month said that at some point before July 21 they didn't have enough to eat and about 5.4 million said they 'often' didn't have enough.

Warning: Graphic language! The Salt Lake City Police Department (#SLCPD) released the 911 call and bodycam footage from April 24, 2020, where a #K9 officer attacked 36-year-old Jeffery Ryans. The biting incident occurred when police arrived at Ryans' home after a 911 call was placed from a young person saying his dad was doing "bad things" to his mom. The young person who called said Ryans was yelling and screaming and responded to the dispatcher affirmatively that his mom had been hit by Ryans. Ryans is told to keep his hands up and to come towards the officers from his backyard. Again, the officers tell him to come out or else he'd get bit. It appears Ryans was talking to an officer on one side of his vinyl fence when the K9 and his handler entered the backyard from another entryway. (Read the Full Story.)
