Protesters blocking the freeway shoot at Jeep attempting to drive through the crowd - another protester gets shot instead - Colorado
A man who shot and wounded two demonstrators at a protest in Colorado over the weekend has been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide. Samuel Young, 23, was taken into custody on Monday in the Denver suburb of Wheat Ridge. Investigators said Young was among the hundreds of protesters who were blocking Interstate 225 in neighboring Aurora on Saturday when a Jeep managed to pass through barricades and barreled toward the crowd. Young allegedly raised his rifle and was aiming at the Jeep when he opened fire, striking one male protester in the leg and grazing another man's head. 'It was the most reckless thing I have seen in a long time,' Aurora's Deputy Chief Harry Glidden said. Investigators are still trying to determine why the driver of the Jeep sped into the protesters as they demonstrated the death of Elijah McClain, a black man who died after being stopped by police in Aurora last year. No one was struck by the vehicle as the crowds parted in time.

The Oakland, Calif., City Council approved a resolution to keep the city "safe from President Trump's federal agents" as backlash over the presence of federal forces deployed to major cities continues, FOX NEWS reported. The unanimous vote was taken during the council's virtual special meeting. The legislation cited the ongoing protests in Portland, Ore., where protesters and authorities have violently clashed for weeks. "Federal agents have attacked and tear-gassed peaceful protesters, and camouflage-clad federal agents were observed grabbing peaceful protesters and throwing them into unmarked vehicles," the resolution reads. The measures direct the council to take any lawful steps to prevent Trump from deploying federal agents to the city. Earlier this month, Oakland was among several cities Trump said could see more federal law enforcement.

The Saginaw Police say an officer acted properly during an arrest this past weekend. According to the group The Ghost of George Floyd, on Sunday, July 26th the group peacefully gathered in Saginaw to demand that police union recognize police brutality and white supremacy within the departments. The group claims police used excessive force against one of its members. An official release from the City of Saginaw says that "Saginaw Police Officers responded to 1120 S. Niagara St. regarding protesters on private property at the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #105. The Officers were in contact with the FOP board members who stated that they did not give permission to anyone to protest on FOP property and wanted the protesters removed for safety and security." According to the City of Saginaw, the officer made "respectful contact with the group."

The man fatally shot by a Roxboro police officer appears to have pointed a gun at the officer, dash-camera footage from the officer’s car shows. On Friday, July 24, David Brooks Jr. was shot once in the chest by Roxboro police responded to a 911 call reporting an armed man, officials said. In the video, an officer stops his car and turns on his blue lights. Brooks appears to raise a gun as officers tell him to drop the gun three times. The only Native American on federal death row is scheduled to be executed in late August, the U.S. government announced Wednesday. Navajo man Lezmond Mitchell, 37, is set to die on August 26 by lethal injection at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terra Haute, Indiana, where he's being held. If it proceeds it will be the first time in modern American history the government executed a Native American tribe member. Under federal law, the U.S. government cannot pursue a death sentence for a capital murder committed on Native American land without the tribe's consent. However, tribal officials and even the victims' family have opposed the death penalty. Mitchell was convicted in the murders of Navajo woman Alyce Slim, 63, and her nine-year-old granddaughter in October 2001 on the reservation that extends into Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake rattled southern California early Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenter of the quake struck the San Fernando Valley, just north of Los Angeles, around 4:30 a.m. local time at a depth of 4.3 miles. A second 3.3 magnitude temblor struck the area about eight minutes later. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The shaking was felt in Santa Clarita, 8.8 miles northwest of the epicenter, and 11.2 miles southeast in Burbank.esidents in the Los Angeles area, including celebrities, took to social media to report the quake shook them out of bed.

Portland police clear protesters out of park near federal courthouse
A videographer who was knifed in the back during protests in downtown Portland claims he was targeted because of his conservative activism. Shocking video captured the moment Andrew Duncomb, 25, was stabbed while he was out filming footage of protests by Portland's Mark O Hatfield federal courthouse early Saturday morning. Duncomb, who is black and a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, told Oregon Live he had traveled to the city from Northern California because he wanted to offer a more complete view of the situation than what has been portrayed in the mainstream media.
