A life-size statue of General Robert E. Lee along with the busts of eight of his Confederate colleagues were removed from Virginia's Capitol late Thursday and early Friday. State House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn ordered the removal from the Capitol's Old House Chamber, a room where rebel lawmakers often met but which in later years mainly served as a museum to visitors. In addition to Lee, the statues taken down are of Joseph E. Johnston, Fitzhugh Lee, Alexander H. Stephens, Thomas Bocock, Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, James E.B. "Jeb" Stuart, Jefferson F. Davis and Matthew F. Maury. They will all be taken to an undisclosed storage location. #facepalm

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT! Federal agents violently clashed with about 2,000 Portland protesters overnight just hours after the Justice Department said it was investigating the use of force during demonstrations and President Trump threatened to send 60,000 officers into more cities. The bloody standoff between BLN hyenas and authorities, which lasted into the early hours of Friday, marked the 57th straight day of unrest in Oregon's largest city as residents continue to demonstrate against common sense. The mainly peaceful BLM protests ended in Portland overnight like many before it - in a violent showdown between protesters and law enforcement. The clashes erupted around midnight when authorities say some demonstrators tried to kick down the protective steel fence, which is reinforced by a barricade, that separated the protesters from law enforcement.

The #NYPD’s highest-ranking uniformed cop exploded in anger during a CompStat meeting, telling police brass: “We can’t be afraid of doing what we do!” Chief of Department Terence Monahan erupted during the crime statistics meeting when a deputy told him that cops were worried about a controversial new city law that, in part, makes it a crime to kneel on a suspect’s chest or back while making an arrest. “They’re concerned about [taking] a bag of crack off the right person, the right dealer, and their knee accidentally — unintentionally — going on their back,” said Deputy Chief Brian McGee, commanding officer of the Manhattan North detective bureau. Monahan had a message for cops worried about new laws: "We can’t be afraid!" Monahan, who was injured while exchanging blows with an anti-cop protester last week, interrupted McGee before he could finish.
