Los Angeles Police Department's Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer Involved #Shooting (OIS) that occurred Monday evening, in Southwest Division. On June 1, 2020, around 9:24 p.m., two male suspects (who were later identified as 20-year-old Daizon Blue and 18-year-old Mosiq Jones) along with a third individual named Damion Henninger, were at a gas station located at the 2200 block of South Vermont Avenue. The males were standing next to a silver Hyundai that was parked at a gas pump. During that time, Southwest Division plain clothes Narcotics Enforcement Detail (NED) officers were in the area driving an unmarked sedan conducting crime suppression due to recent protests and looting. WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT! Phoenix Police officials are releasing more details surrounding an officer-involved #shooting that killed a 40-year-old man in May. According to Phoenix Police statements at the time, the incident happened on the night of May 21, when officers responded to a domestic violence call in an area near Chandler Boulevard and Desert Foothills Parkway, in Phoenix's Ahwatukee Foothills neighborhood. The 40-year-old man who died has since been identified as Ryan Whitaker, and members of Whitaker's family say he was the victim. (Read the full story.)

Phoenix police released body camera footage from its fatal #shooting of 27-year-old Donald Ward, after receiving reports that he was threatening a woman with a gun at a Phoenix apartment on June 16. The video, which runs more than 7 minutes and 30 seconds, released by the department first began with a 911 call from a witness who said a man was beating a woman and that he had a gun at an apartment near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road. The dispatcher tells the caller that officers are on their way before the caller yells "get out!" numerous times and tells the dispatcher the man has fired shots. (Read the full story.)

PD: Wrong-way Driver Resists Arrest, JULY 15, 2020 8:09 AM. On January 17, 2020, just before midnight Officer McGillis, who was assigned as a DUI motor officer was patrolling the area of 7th Avenue and Indian School Road when he observed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, in an opposing traffic lane. Officer McGillis attempted to stop the driver for the violation. The driver, who was later identified as Mariah Valenzuela, pulled into a parking spot, and exited her vehicle. Officer McGillis greeted the female, and asked her for her driver license identification, but Valenzuela stated she did not have it on her. COLUMBIA, South Carolina -- A 35-year veteran of the Columbia Police Department has died of complications from COVID-19, the department announced Tuesday. Master Police Officer Robert J. “Bob” Hall, 57, died early Tuesday, CPD chief Skip Holbrook said in a press release. Hall began receiving treatment for the coronavirus. Hall is the first publicly known Columbia Police Department officer to die from the coronavirus, which has claimed the lives of 984 South Carolinians as of Tuesday. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, two adult children and grandchildren, CPD said in a press release. #RIP
