Boisterous protests over the police #shooting of a Detroit man concluded late Friday, hours after the release of video showing officers returned fire when the suspect shot at close range. Three Detroit officers shot at Hakim Littleton, 20, killing him on Detroit's west side just after noon on Friday, sparking a call for immediate protests in the wake of nationwide unrest following the death of George Floyd during a police incident in May. "Justice for Hakim Littleton! Fire and jail the killer cop!" dozens of demonstrators chanted outside Detroit's 12th Precinct headquarters on Seven Mile Road near Woodward on Friday night. More than two hours earlier, police played dash and bodycam video appearing to show Littleton drawing and firing on officers who were arresting an associate.

Four children were killed after the driver of a semitruck โ€“ who authorities believe may have been under the influence of drugs โ€“ slammed into a car that was slowing in a construction zone on Interstate 70 in eastern Indiana, pushing it into the path of another semi. The three-vehicle crash occurred just after 5 p.m. on Thursday, and police arrived on the scene to find a Chevrolet car and a second semitruck pulling a box trailer careened off the highway and engulfed in flames. The 33-year-old driver, Cory Withrow of Camden, Ohio, escaped his burning semi with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Reid Health Hospital in Richmond, Indiana State Police said. Preliminary toxicology reports indicated that Withrow had multiple drugs in his system, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the second semi, Thomas Flaherty, 57, of Springfield, Ohio, was transported by medical helicopter to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was admitted to the burn unit in critical condition.

Tucker Carlson: "It turns out that revolutions cover a multitude of sins. Once every conversation in your country turns political, only the politicians benefit from it.In a normal moment, the people in charge would be in deep trouble right now. The rest of us would be asking hard questions about why things seem to be falling apart โ€” why our streets are filthy, why violent crime is rising, why nothing seems to work. We pay a lot to keep this society functioning. Suddenly, weโ€™re not getting a lot in return. Itโ€™s not a very good deal. But in the age of Black Lives Matter, our leaders donโ€™t have to answer for this. They just give speeches about social justice and theyโ€™re insulated from all criticism. If you persist in bothering them about their incompetence, theyโ€™ll have you arrested for hate crimes."

More than 150 Minneapolis police officers have filed for disability claims, with many claiming post-traumatic stress disorder for their departures following weeks of soaring crime and unrest following the death of George Floyd, an attorney for the officers said Friday. The claims come as the city experiences an increase in crime and elected leaders attempt to dismantle the police department and create a new public safety apparatus. "I'm seeing PTSD symptoms of officers with highly diminished capacity to live and socialize, extraordinary rates of divorce, and alcohol dependency โ€“ just to cope. It is an emotional crisis that cannot and should not continue," he said in a statement. Meuser said he's been approached officers to file for disability claims through the state's Public Employment Retirement Association, or PERA. Around 75 officers have left the force or turned in paperwork with the intention of leaving, Meuser said during a news conference Friday.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Euronews | 71 arrested after hundreds try to storm Serbian parliament in anti-Vuฤiฤ‡ protests | 11-07-20
โ€” "Serbian police have detained 71 people after clashes during the fourth night of anti-government protests that were initially sparked by the announcement of a new coronavirus lockdown, a senior police official said on Saturday.

14 policemen were injured in the rioting when hundreds of right-wing demonstrators tried to storm the parliament building in downtown Belgrade on Friday evening, said police director Vladimir Rebic.

Several reporters have also been hurt. Demonstrators defying an anti-virus ban on gatherings threw bottles, rocks, and flares at police who were guarding the parliament building, with police responding with tear gas to disperse them."
