A shooting at a South Carolina nightclub left at least 12 people in “various conditions” early Sunday, a sheriff's official said. A Greenville County sheriff's deputy noticed a “disturbance” at Lavish Lounge just before 2 a.m., and called for backup because of “active gunfire from inside the building,” Lt. Jimmy Bolt said in a statement. Responding officials took victims inside the lounge to the hospital, while others were taken via private vehicles, The Charlotte Observer reported. It wasn't clear whether anyone was in custody in relation to the shooting. The names and precise conditions of the victims weren't immediately released. The nightclub is about 5 miles southwest of downtown Greenville, in South Carolina's Upstate region. A post on Lavish Lounge's Facebook page advertised a July 4 performance by trap rapper Foogiano.

A 7-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were among those fatally shot Saturday night as Chicago erupted in gun violence on Independence Day. The evening included two attacks that each had eight victims. The girl, identified by her family as Natalie Wallace, was outside her grandmother’s home at a Fourth of July party in the city's Austin neighborhood around 7 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up and three men got out and started shooting indiscriminately. The girl was shot in her head and pronounced dead after she was rushed to a hospital. A 32-year-old man shot during the same attack was in fair condition. The city deployed 1,200 additional police officers who the mayor said would be working with violence prevention groups and focus on getting illegal guns off the street over the holiday weekend, according to the Sun-Times.

⚠️ WANTED! New York City police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on a city sidewalk last week, killing a man and wounding a woman in broad daylight. The shooting unfolded in front of 41 New Lots Ave. in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood at around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. #NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison shared surveillance video of the attack on Friday. The footage shows a man calmly walking up to another man on a sidewalk. He pulls a gun from his waistband and appears to fire multiple times as the other man stands in close range. Both victims were rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where Moore was pronounced dead. The woman is in stable condition. As detectives investigate, Harrison asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or DM @NYPDTips.
A highway trooper in Oklahoma had a near miss last week while helping a driver when a bolt of lightning struck nearby. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said on Facebook the incident happened on Thursday along the Turner Turnpike/Interstate 44 between Bristow and Stroud, located southwest of Tulsa. According to a short statement, the trooper had pulled over to “assist with some equipment that had fallen off a trailer,” when the bolt hit the highway. Dashcam video shows the moment the bolt of lightning strikes near the roadway as the officer walks nearby. It did not appear the officer suffered any injuries. Last year there were just 21 lightning-related fatalities, down from an average of 55 deaths per year in 2001.
A Black Lives Matter protester has died in hospital, less than 24 hours after they were struck by a car which plowed into a crowd of demonstrators in Seattle. Summer Taylor, 24, succumbed to injuries sustained during the collision, which occurred on a closed-off section of Interstate 5 shortly after 1am on Saturday. The protester was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in a critical injury, before passeing away on Saturday evening. The driver of the Jaguar, Dawit Kelete, 27, sped off from the scene, but was later apprehended. Officials are trying to determine the motive as well as how Kelete got onto the interstate, which had been closed by the state patrol for more than an hour before the protesters were hit.

According to the Orlando Police Department, Lake Eola park rangers noticed graffiti on a statue and public bathroom in the area.
Armed right-wing groups came together in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday in a united show of support for the 2nd Amendment at an Open Carry rally. At least 200 people, the majority proudly toting rifles, semi-automatic weapons and other firearms, gathered outside Capitol Square to protest against gun control and the violation of constitutional rights.
