A spike in #coronavirus cases across several states is fueling fears of a second wave of the deadly virus, with Texas now urging residents to stay home, states including Florida and New Jersey vowing to crack down on bars and California recording its worst day on record for new cases. Seven states of Arizona, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas are recording their highest number of hospitalizations since the pandemic first started ravaging the nation.

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT! A Harlem man escaped a stabbing Tuesday with minor injuries — including one caused by the massive kitchen knife left sticking upright out of his scalp, authorities said. Viral Instagram video of the gory aftermath shows the unidentified man appearing to talk calmly with horrified onlookers and walking toward an FDNY ambulance — seemingly unaware of his blood-drenched undershirt and the kitchen knife protruding from the top of his head. Despite the slasher flick-worthy nature of the injury, cops said that the victim — identified only as a 36-year-old Harlem resident — escaped serious harm because the blade didn’t penetrate his skull. He was listed in stable condition at Harlem Hospital. Multiple witnesses characterized the events preceding the stabbing as an apparent domestic squabble in which the man allegedly roughed up a female companion who responded by plunging the knife into his head.
Armed protesters stood guard at an Atlanta-area Wendy's, the site where Rayshard Brooks, a black man shot twice in the back by an Atlanta police officer, died earlier this month. Earlier in the day, a group of people had "taken over" the burned-out property in South Atlanta, according to local reports. People living in the area also have complained that the protesters who remained were no longer peaceful, but instead were using the space for their own gain and at times blocking people on the street from getting by.
A Democrat state senator from Milwaukee was pummeled by a group of protesters at the Wisconsin State Capitol late Tuesday during a violent clash that included two statues being toppled, a report said. Sen. Tim Carpenter told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he was beaten after taking a photo of some of the protesters. Social media posts from the scene early Wednesday indicated that police in riot gear were warning protesters to leave the area after reports that some were trying to break the windows of the capitol building. Protesters toppled the two statues. One of the statues was of Col. Christian Heg, who fought and died during the Civil War on the Union side. Rich Lowery, the editor of the National Review, tweeted, "It’s now open season on abolitionists who recruited troops for the Union army, ably led them, and died courageously on the battlefield."

Warning: Strong language! Overnight, deputies responded to a report of a Volusia County ambulance that was stolen from AdventHealth Daytona Beach. With Central Communications able to track the ambulance and give updates on its location, Deputy Cowger spotted it traveling at a high speed on S.R. 11 in Bunnell, where he conducted a traffic stop and took the driver into custody.

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT! On Tuesday, June 23, Pasadena Police Chief J. Perez invited local reporters to a press conference regarding an officer involved #shooting that occurred in the city May 8. On Friday, May 8, 2020, at approximately 3:35 p.m., Pasadena Police Department personnel were in the area of Walnut Street and Meridith Avenue when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage for a vehicle code violation. Lloyd Nelson Jr., the 47-year-old male driver and solo occupant of the vehicle failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Nelson drove recklessly through city streets, and officers discontinued their direct pursuit while the Pasadena Police helicopter monitored the suspect from above. The video has been released and is now on the Pasadena Police.
