(WARNING: 21+) Richmond Police have released dramatic video showing the violent and deadly end of the #pursuit of a Vallejo kidnapping suspect that left the suspect fatally shoot, two officers injured and the victim on life support in the hospital. On Thursday…
The victim told family members that she was leaving to get breakfast with him and would return. A short time later, Barraza made contact with a family member of the victim via telephone, where he made an unsettling comment — causing them to be extremely concerned for her well-being. The family called the police department.
Later in the evening, Vallejo investigators said, a concerned citizen in Moraga called 911 after seeing a subject discarding what appeared to be a body on the side of the road in the area of Pinehurst Rd. and Skyline Blvd. from a white van.
Arriving Moraga and Oakland police officers, discovered the missing Vallejo woman. She was still alive but unresponsive and transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for at least one gunshot wound. As of late Friday night, authorities said, she was on life support.
During a search, officers located the van and attempted to pull it over, but the driver did not stop and a pursuit ensued. After initially heading into Oakland, the chase moved onto the freeway and into Richmond. During the pursuit, officers could see Ayon-Barraza was armed with a handgun as he was driving at high speeds.
Police said the suspect vehicle exited the freeway and drove through Richmond city streets to the area of South 37th St. and Stege Ave. While making a U-turn on South 37th St. at Carlson Blvd., police said the suspect pointed his firearm at pursuing officers.
Multiple Oakland police officers and a Richmond police officer simultaneously fired their weapons in self defense. The suspect vehicle crossed over into traffic and collided with an Oakland police vehicle.
Two Oakland police officers suffered moderate injuries in the collision. One officer was treated and released, while the other officer remains in a local hospital. The suspect sustained a fatal gunshot wound during this incident and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation was ongoing involving multiple agencies including Oakland Police Department, Richmond Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Moraga Police Department, Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department, and Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.

An organized protest group gathered in northern San Diego County on Sunday afternoon to demonstrate against what they call the local government’s overreach in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The protest, held in Encinitas, about 25 miles north of San Diego, came less than a week after the City Council closed the Coastal Rail Trail and the pedestrian portion of South Hwy 101 to "ensure compliance with the order for social distancing. Crista Anne Curtis, who organized Sunday's protest, told Fox News the move was frustrating because the area lacked sidewalks and the trail was the only way to get around. She also said that the trail had gotten busier since Encinitas closed its beaches, but the city has not experienced an increase in coronavirus cases. Law enforcement officers were present at Sunday's protest to ensure demonstrators were practicing social distancing. Officials said they issued no citations.

A gunman disguised as a police officer shot dead 16 people in Canada Sunday after going on a 12 hour rampage, shooting his victims in their homes and setting fires. It was the deadliest such attack in the country's history. Officials said the suspected shooter, Gabriel Wortman, 51, is also dead. Sources told CTV News that the gunman was killed by police. Several bodies were found inside and outside one home in the small, rural town of Portapique, about 60 miles north of Halifax — what police called the first scene. A police officer was among those killed. Bodies were also found at other locations. Authorities believe the shooter may have targeted his first victims but then began attacking randomly. Among the dead is Royal Canadian Mounted Police member Const. Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year member of the force and a mother-of-two. Two to three others were injured and are being treated at a local hospital, including another Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer.

Wortman's deadly rampage lasted 12 hours as he went around Nova Scotia in a police uniform killing people, with his victims appearing to be random, police said. They also confirmed at one point he was driving what appeared to be a police vehicle. The tragedy ended shortly before noon local time, when police said Wortman was located at a gas station around 60 miles south of where the shootings occurred. Police did not clarify the nature of Wortman's death, but photos showed several armed officers surrounding a car at a gas station and a body was later taken from the scene. So far, police have not released a motive or explained how Wortman was able to obtain the police uniform or car that resembled a police vehicle.
