About 90 percent of Americans - or 297 million people - are now in some form of lockdown due to the coronavirus. Arkansas, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa currently have no known lockdown measures. Some cities in states including Utah, Wyoming and Alabama have their own local orders but no statewide mandates. It comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to changes it guidance for hot spot areas in the US and urge people living in those cities or states to wear masks or other face coverings outside.
A four-year-old boy was found dead inside his family's home in suburban Chicago after police say he accidentally shot himself in the head while playing with a gun. Officers from the Thornton Police Department responded to a home on Blackhawk Drive just after 8.40pm on Thursday and found Amir Jennings-Green dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Amir was rushed to Ingalls Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later. Police said they are not looking for any suspects in connection to the toddler's shooting death, which is believed to be self-inflicted, reported Chicago Sun-Times. According to detectives, someone inside the residence owned the gun used by the child to shoot himself. Thornton police Chief Glenn Beckman told the newspaper investigators are 'leaning' toward concluding the shooting was accidental.

One of the cops pulled in front of Rodríguez while another trailed behind the shooter.

The 32-year-old man then stepped off his bike and unloaded his gun, striking the shoulder of cop who was in front of him. Rodríguez turned towards the second cop, who stood on a sidewalk, and miraculously missed each of the shots he fired.

Rodríguez immediately took off running but the hero cop responded with fire, shooting him in the abdomen and buttocks.

Paramedics later arrived on the scene and took him to Olaya Polyclinic, where he died two hours later after doctors tried to save his life during an operation, according to Colombian media outlet Pulzo.

Rodríguez had previously been arrested for aggravated robbery, sexual abuse and escaping from a prison.
Lyon, France: a man armed with a knife attacked people out shopping in the southeastern French town of Romans-sur-Isère on Saturday, killing two and wounding four, the mayor said. The town is currently under a coronavirus lockdown, although people are allowed out to buy essentials. The attacks took place in the morning outside a bakery where customers were queuing, and at shops in the town center, according to Mayor Marie-Hélène Thoraval, who said the assailant had been arrested. Witnesses told Reuters the man struck at random and in several places while moving around the town center. It was not immediately clear if the attacks had any link to the lockdown. Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said security services were trying to establish the nature and circumstances of the incident.

Primorye county, Russia: a bridge collapsed, fortunately no injuries.
Shocking new data has revealed hidden coronavirus hotspots in small town America that are among some of the hardest hit areas of the country. The epicenter in New York and other major outbreaks in Seattle, California and Detroit have filled the headlines but a new map shows that some of the most deadly outbreaks are being experienced in Georgia, Arkansas and Mississippi where aging communities are dying at greater rates and smaller hospitals are struggling to survive. Many coronavirus maps focus on the total number of cases in each state but when these are narrowed down to a county level and compared to population, the deadly hit to smaller communities becomes more evident. The county-level map, created by the University of Chicago, shows a worrying trend of quickly escalating cases in smaller towns and cities.
Multiple patients infected with coronavirus were transferred to the hospital ship Comfort from the Javits Center in New York by mistake, three U.S. officials tell Fox News. The number of Covid-19 patients brought on board the hospital ship was estimated to be “less than five,” one official said. This information has not been previously reported. The patients were transferred sometime Friday, according to the officials. At the time the patients were transferred to the hospital ship Comfort, the initial screening did not indicate they were positive, officials said. The hospital ship is located on Pier 90 on Manhattan’s west side and arrived in New York Monday. The vessel has a “couple dozen” patients on board right now, according to chief Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman. Part of the protocol before receiving patients onboard Comfort is for a coronavirus test to be performed.
The ousted commander of the coronavirus-stricken USS Theodore Roosevelt may face further disciplinary action, the acting Navy secretary said. Crozier, 50, was relieved of his command following the publication of a letter he wrote to senior military officials. The letter described the dire situation on the ship following an outbreak of the virus and demanded help. Crozier’s removal has been highly controversial, with videos and images spreading over social media showing the overwhelming support of the Roosevelt crew, as well as petitions calling for Crozier to be reinstated. Over 120,000 people have signed the petition, Fox News reported. The Navy said Friday that 137 crew members had tested positive for the virus and that nearly 600 sailors were being quarantined in Guam.
