The seizure is the largest methamphetamine load in Arizona ports history. CBP Officers found more than 600 packages of drugs hidden in a non-factory floor compartment of a tractor trailer covered with tomatoes and bell peppers, driven by a 34-year-old truck driver, according to news release. Following an alert by a CBP narcotics detection canine, officers seized approximately 690 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of nearly $690,000. The driver was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Philadelphia’s police commissioner vowed Wednesday that the city’s officers are “not turning a blind eye to crime” amid the rollout of a new policy that calls for a delay in arrests of those who commit certain non-violent offenses. The policy was announced Tuesday in response to the coronavirus outbreak and concerns that jails are facing a greater risk of becoming overcrowded and infected now that Philadelphia’s courts have been ordered to remain closed until April 1. Under the new directive, those accused of crimes such as burglary or prostitution will be temporarily held to have their paperwork filled out before being released and arrested on a warrant at a later date. “To be clear, the Philadelphia Police Department is not turning a blind eye to crime,” Danielle Outlaw, its commissioner, posted on Twitter.

The mayor of Baltimore is urging criminals to "put down the guns" following a street-corner shooting that wounded seven people as the country grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, Fox News reported. The Tuesday shooting brought the city's number of non-fatal shootings to 111 for the year so far. The city has been plagued by gun violence for decades, with homicides surpassing 300 for each of the past five years. Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young told reporters the city will do everything to fight crime during the pandemic. The victims from Tuesday's incident were standing on a street corner when a man opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle. A police officer who saw the shooting fired at the suspected gunman as he was fleeing. The victims -- a 37-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy, three 20-year-old men, and two other men ages 23 and 24 -- are listed in stable condition.
