A California toddler who was spending his first Christmas without his police officer father got a special surprise from his late fatherโ€™s colleagues. Newman Police Corporal Ronil Singh, 33, was killed in the early hours of Dec. 26, 2018 after he pulled over a suspected drunk driver. The gunman โ€“ later identified as Gustavo Arriaga Perez -- fled, and a two-day manhunt led to his arrest before he prepared to leave to Mexico. This Christmas, the Newman Police Officers Association decided to make Singhโ€™s son holidays a little bit special. In a Facebook post shared on Christmas, Newman police said Singh had always said that his son would grow up to be a police officer like him and that he hoped to teach him the ropes one day. To get an early start, the association delivered the toddler his very own patrol car, which a local anonymous resident modeled to look just like his dadโ€™s old one.๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

(WARNING 21+) Christopher Grant Meador and Laken Rawlins โ€” have been exonerated of any wrongdoing stemming from the Aug. 13 shooting death of Joplin resident David Ingle, Joplin Police Chief Matt Stewart said. The shooting was investigated by the Joplin Police Department as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol. During a 45-minute press conference, video from the dashboard camera on Rawlins' patrol car as well as from the two officers' body cameras was shown to the media. Combined, they showed events leading up to the moment when Meador fired shots from his service weapon at Ingle, who was unarmed but charging at Meador. โ€œThe Missouri State Highway Patrol completed their investigation and determined no criminal wrongdoing (had been committed) by either of the officers,โ€ Stewart said. ๐Ÿ”ซ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ#shooting

A new internet privacy law returns power to consumers, USA Today reports. Today, Americans' every move is tracked across the internet by a trillion-dollar industry that mines and stockpiles thousands of their data points to target ads at them. You don't need tofeel like you're being watched โ€” you are. But starting Wednesday, Californians will have the right to see what information companies are collecting about them and request they stop selling it. The landmark California Consumer Privacy Act has the potential to become a national law if other states follow or companies extend those rights beyond our state lines, privacy advocates say. Here's a big thing to know about the new law: You have to take action. That means you need to send companies a form requesting the details on what they've sold and directing them not to sell anything else. Within 10 days, expect confirmation that your request has been received. Within 45 days, you should get a response.

The Coast Guard is searching for a tour helicopter in Hawaii that disappeared Thursday. Seven people were onboard the chopper that vanished off Kauai's Nฤpali Coast. Two of the six passengers are reportedly minors. There is reduced visibility around the islandโ€ฆ
The wreckage of a Hawaii tour helicopter carrying seven people that went missing Thursday evening has been found, and crews are continuing to search for possible survivors, officials said. The helicopter was found about 9:30 a.m. Friday in a mountainous area on the east side of the island of Kauai, authorities said. A pilot and six passengers, including two children, were on board. Authorities said in a news release that they were sending additional resources to search for survivors. Kauai Fire Department Battalion Chief Sol Kanoho said "no actionable information on the status of the passengers" was available during a news conference Friday afternoon.
Two men have been kicked out of the Army National Guard after liberal activists reported on their alleged membership in a religious group with white supremacist ties. Earlier in 2019, the Atlanta Antifacists group published a report saying East and Woodward were leaders of the Norse pagan group Ravensblood Kindred. The group is part of the Asatru Folk Assembly, which researchers say endorses white supremacy. Haralson County Sheriff Eddie Mixon earlier forced East to resign as a jailer. When the report was published, Woodward was on active duty in Afghanistan. Woodwardโ€™s unit returned from deployment in June and an investigation into his connections with white supremacy concluded in October. The military has struggled in recent years to root out members of white supremacist organizations or sympathizers with white power causes, reported USA Today.

Two people were shot and killed and multiple others were wounded when a group filming a music video was โ€œambushedโ€ near Houston, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. After holding a media briefing in which he said two people were killed and four wounded, Gonzalez in a tweet revised the total number of gunshot victims in the Friday night shooting to eight. He said some of the wounded were being treated for โ€œvery serious injuries.โ€ The sheriff said authorities received a call about a drive-by shooting around 9:30 p.m. The shooting scene stretched several blocks, the sheriff said, and it wasn't immediately clear what led to the shooting, FOX 8 reports. He described the victims as Hispanic males who appeared to be in their early 20s. No suspect information was immediately available, and the sheriff requested witnesses and anyone else who might have been injured to come forward.

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT! Hong Kong riot police arrested at least 15 people in clashes Saturday with dozens of pro-democracy protestors who targeted a mall near the border with China to demonstrate against mainland tourists and shoppers. The fresh unrest ended a brief calm after protestors had battled riot police in shopping malls and streets of commercial districts across the city for three days over the Christmas period. About 100 protesters marched through the mall shouting, 'Liberate Hong Kong!' and 'Return to the mainland!' On Saturday afternoon, masked plain-clothed officers wielding batons arrested 14 people, including a 14-year-old girl, who were protesting inside the mall in Sheung Shui district, forcing shops to shut and harassing shoppers, a reporter at the scene said. Riot police charged into the mall to reinforce the officers and used pepper spray to disperse a crowd of residents who gathered to protest against the arrests. #HK
